Reamping an ENGL fireball

Noisegate does nothing, it's definitely electrical. Every outlet does it :(
Is there some way I could ground my mixer better?
Also, if I connect
----------------- SEND ----> Desk
guitar -> NS2-[
----------------- OUTPUT -> Amp

it gets the same hum :S

No re-amp box mate :(
Guitar -> Boss NS2 (on battery)
(Outputs seperate, one goes to ENGL for recording, other to my desk's preamp for recording the dry signal)
BUT, no matter what happens (noise gate, amp gain, phantom power, anything), if the desk is ANYWHERE in the signal path, on the amp's side of the pedal or not, it hums like a mofo. It's not TERRIBLE hum, but enough that you have to cut it out every time there's a pause in the guitar. It's like going back in time to when the bands I recorded didn't have NS2's at all.

First off, I assume your desk is also your interface, so you couldn't bypass that (otherwise that'd be what I'd suggest) - it almost certainly is a ground loop, try shutting off and unplugging anything connected to the computer that's unnecessary (external HDD, Printer, etc.), as that could do it, though more than likely you'll need to invest in an isolation transformer! (see this thread for the lowdown on models)

And as I understand it from your description, you're not actually re-amping, but rather just recording the DI and also sending the signal to the amp (re-amping is when you send that recorded DI back out to the amp) - just FYI :D
