I want to try something similar that someone else here did with a metalzone. I want to record something with revalver, and then record the same clip, reamped with a real amp. I want to analyze the frequency in curveEQ from the real amp and match it to the revalver tone. Anyone who can record a good amp or preamp, and also record the clean signal. I'm interested in a distorted signal without a cab. I will post the clips here later so we can compare

Thanks alot!

Yeah, this is a good idea...
Matching the preamp out gives really interesting results... the most important thing is that the clean signal should be reamped and not played separately...
You could start from this thread:

(post #13, the file to download from esnips is called test.wav, thanks to reneisgod!)
I've tried it with Wagner and Amplitube 2 and the results were pretty interesting!

I hope you'll have lot of collaborations on this...

Hey dude! How is it going with the amp curveEQ stuff? Make sure you post the reamp signal used as well ;)

I was wondering if it was possible to match curveeq to a professionally mixed song in which we only hear the guitar...
to match a 5150 preamp out with an impulse to get a similar result to the mixed song..? I'm not too familiar with curveeq but if it is possible it would be an awesome thing..

Yes it's possible, I have done it a few times with great results ;) In fact I cant remember how I managed in the past before CurveEQ.

You can't match the preamp without making a curve from another preamp. In this case you would match the the sound after the cab/impulse. It works, but it's very hard to make it identical. The basic sound would have to be very close to the original.

Hey guys...

sorry for not posting sooner.

It is going slow... mainly because Its boring as hell, but the good news is that when I start I do a bunch of clips in a row.

because they are too many maybe I will be releasing the collection in packs.

pack 1
pack 2
etc...

give a few days I'll post it on the FTP and make a new thread.

take care

Awesome

Bump!

Any news on this?
I only got 2 curve files (from Daunt's 5150 preamp out and after cab). I like em BTW thanks Daunt!

Anyone got some more ?

Ok again I'm sorry but I've been lacking in the motivation department.

I Will have the CurveEQ'ed pack v1 uploaded by the weekend on the FTP .

I promise!

I'll start a thread so that everyone can see it.

take care

I'm new to this whole curve EQ affair.. it sounds similar to impulsese but i dont understand how you folks are "curving" pre amps and what not :S

Can anyone shed some light on this Curve EQ and some of its uses?

It sounds to me as though it is mimicing the EQ response of an audio signal.. if i am correct then that has some mad potential.

ALSO i am very interested to see how this could be used in conjuction with Revalver as i read it's been done, but i'll be damned if i can figure out how hahaha
please keep me in formed!

Basically, the point is to match the spectrum of a VST or a real preamp output, with the spectrum of another real preamp output you like...
You can use Voxengo Curve EQ to make the match.
So the chain would be (in case of a VST amp sim) VST (with cab sim OFF)--> Voxengo Curve EQ --> Impulse.
This gives to the preamp out of your VST, the same (more or less) eq of a specific real amp...

The results could be really good, but to match the EQ exactly it'is really important to use the same clean input signal used to record the real preamp output, to have the most accurate matching...

So
1) Clean signal --> amp (preamp out) --> soundcard --> Voxengo Curve EQ, "Save Spectrum" function
2) Clean signal (same as above) --> VST/Whatever (preamp out) --> Voxengo Curve EQ, "Match Spectrum" function (using the above saved spectrum)

My English sucks, sorry for that...
