Please let me know what you think of it...It's just a raw take (no eq, no comp) using a Mesa Dual Recto and a Shure SM-57 mic (with some different positioning and panning!).

Na man this is for every one to post samples and compare their work to others but yea i did kinda have raw samples in mind no HP/LP. The idea being we could just compare our micing skills and learn from each other.
Anyone else want to submit some other d.i tracks?
oh and guys post pics of your mic setup if you can pictures speak a thousand words and all that.

Na no more di tracks- if everyone works off the same di's we've a level playing feild and know where the differences are, if more peple post di's we'll just end up with a load of people having different clips and won't know whats what!
Good thread. I can't re-amp myself so i'll just have to listen and learn!

A bit off topic but does anyone using a mac with safari have any problems trying to play sounds from esnips? It's not just these posts, just 100% of every link I have clicked on with my MacBook Pro. At work on a pc, there is no problem loading. Just curious.

I understand what if6was9 is saying, but I think I'd rather redo some DI's following Oz's guide more clearly when I come back off holiday in October, with new pickups and strings, etc. Also a more interesting riff.

cobhc's sound good but i prefer Keiffer ones.
It's a matter of taste though IMO :
cobhc : fat, smooth, gainy, polished. Reminds me of the tone on both last Walls of Jericho albums.
Keiffer: tight, crisp, kinda low gain, grainy, mean. Sounds more like the kind of tone i'm after.

This is a dry track of a sg through a Behringer ultra DI100 active direct box (250kohm) into a 003R:

Which one is better for you? I think surprisingly the ultra DI100 sounds with more definition but I don´t know the final result as I still haven´t got a reamp box to try myself.

ok so i gave one of them a try. im still trying to figure out the whole amp sim thing with impulses so dont laugh to hard.

wow thanks man. seems as if it needs more low end but i cant seem to get it without it sounding flubby. any ideas?
