Hi guys !

Our band is again recording and again we want to do everything ourselves. This time we want to try recording guitars @ home thru i DI box. Make the recordings perfect. Cut them up, clean them up.. the works.

Then we want to run them through the amps (5150 and Cobra) and record the dirty stuff.

The problem is that we don't have a reamp box (is it acctualy available in europe?)

I've read that there are some run-arounds, like using an effects pedal with buffered signal (do you know any easily available boxes that have this?)

Anyway the question is, what is your experience with reamping withouth having a reamp box at your disposal ?

Cheers !

Yeh i was wondering the same thing except i would be running it out of a group out on my desk, my teachers said that it should work fine but i dont really trust them seeing as none of them have ever tried it.

Take your passive DI-box and use it reversed...

Interface Output -> DI-box Output
DI-box Input -> Input Amp

Check pad on your DI-box

I just tested this guitar -> di (in reversed order) -> amp, and confirm to you that it works, but if you record it first and then try it, no idea.

No No ...

you gotta record your normal dry signal (Guitar -> DI -> Interface).

Then you can use your DI-box reversed as a "ghetto"-re-amping-device. That basically means:
Play back your recorded dry track through an Output of your interface. Patch that output to the Output of a passive DI-Box. From here you can go into the Instrument-input of your Amp.

I bought my Radial ProRMP in Russia... I suppose that usually it is more difficult than in Europe :)
Check for Radial dealers or dealers of other reampers manufacturers.
I tried reamping through my Art Tube MP Studio with not bad results.

If you experienced more noise than usual you probably made a mistake.
The first time I tried to reamp through a passive DI I didn't know that I have to use it reversed. A rectifier was noisy as hell, my own Engl was noisy, but the overall sound was okay...
