Reaper 4 dudes..

Is anyone else getting strange take/lane behaviors? I can't really explain to well what I'm experiencing, but it's got me all confused when I'm recording multiple items in one lane. I start getting all sorts of splits and empty lanes for no apparent reason at weird times. Specifically weird is when I record a new take and undo the recording, it adds like 3 new empty takes. really strange. Is this a bug or just some new feature that needs to be disabled?

Edit- Nevermind, it was a bug that was fixed in the build that was released today

Guess what? This thing can look good after all. I'm trying to remove all the ugly green. :Puke:

I do not understand why the designers want to reinvent the wheel. They just need to take what people like from the other DAWs and implement it in Reaper. I believe that those who are in charge of the UI design should give way to others who can do this better. Cockos should pay someone who really knows about it.

I am now learning to use WALTER. Is a step in the right direction but I see somewhat limited (Yes, I said it, limited). Samplitude has a similar system (less limited) for a while, with which I have already worked.

Great Stuff... I hope you'll release it as soon as it's usable!

Anyway, come on guys, it really seems like everybody is taking Reaper 4 development in a very superficial way...

GUI is bad, GUI is good, GUI could be improved, THEY (Cockos) ARE UPDATING GUI WHEN THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THING TO DO...

GUI is ONE of the features they are "improving", they are ADDING lots and lots of features but nobody seems not to care about it. Bah, we are at ALPHA stage, it will be released in something like 2 months...

Looking at it and say "bah, new gui, nothing major, gtfo" to me sounds really inappropriate..

Also, I think people should understand Reaper does not want to be a DAW like the others, cause it would loose all its interest and it would have not gone so far. It has a different system than others, it's copying ideas but still stays this thing you can customize a lot, where there are updates quickly (instead of 1 update a year that would be a bigger one). You like it or not, but I don't think their goal is to be a direct equivalent to ProTools/Cubase/Logic. If they went this route, they would have never have success. Why using an underdevelopped protools if protools is already a good DAW ? So they went another route and it seduced many people. It's a different philosophy.

Also, I think one should not complain too much if that alpha is a bit buggy in some areas.

I would be interested in the less-greeny-gui when you finish it. I like the look you are getting of it jhrv :)

Great writeup in TapeOp with the Reaper developers this month BTW.

I love the philosophy and many of the way things work in Reaper. Unfortunately I am so damn married to Cubase I get too frustrated trying to find the time to learn Reaper.

The biggest thing I love about Reaper is their licensing. I am sure they are loosing their asses on all the never-ending-demo users. But I like how when you need it, you can get it, no matter what.

That change list is huge! Definitely a DAW to watch out for.
