Wait till you get to that Widow album.
So i listened to 6 songs so far, and ummmmm well what's with the growls? The music is killer, clean vocals are fantastic, but then there are the growls on every tracks. And not even good growls, its like shitty mainstream metalcore and deathcore growls. It makes me sad and almost unlistenable for me
First time i heard them was with their Life's Blood album last year, and i dont remember hearing those ever.

That is Chris doing the growls. That is who they were on their debut. They later dropped them but I think it was a bit of Children Of Bodom influence or just leftover remnants of Sorrow Bequest which was before Widow. You have to remember the time frame of that album too. It was 2004. They recorded it before then. Metal without screaming wasn't too hip, let alone a traditional metal band like Widow. They were ahead of the pack. Plus me releasing amidst my metalcore roster on Tribunal Records turned some heads as well.
Just a different vibe than Life's Blood. Songs on that debut are killer however. Once you get used to them you will love it. It's a shock I know at first.

I totally took that into consideration that it was the debut and that Life's Blood is 7 years later. Bands change, so im not hating on them. Ill have to spin it a few more times. Musically i love it, pure classic traditional metal and the clean vocals are great. Just the growlies bother me abit. Ive never been into metalcore so those vocals are hard for me.
I need to get my hands on their 2nd and 3rd album still.

Nice! I picked those up at ProgPower and was really impressed with how they were treated. Everything from the sound quality to the bonus material to the booklets was first class. I just hope they don't stop there. A Dream Evil reissue would be ideal.
