Well, i ll get me a new guitar for my birthday next week...problem is i am kinda n00b. I have a very old classic (i guess) guitar from my father's youth. Its a real cheap one. Now, i have been playing for one year now and i really want a better souding guitar with not damaged riff :)

- Price Range: till 500 Euro ($)

- Accoustic or Classic (Whats difference?)

- Nylon or Steel ?

- Like i said, i am still kinda freshman as i' ve been playing for one year so far. I prefer catchy fingerpicking songs like "benighted" or "credence", or Metallica "Nothing else matters". But i also play some standard chord songs, where no fingerpicking is used. Considering this information, what could ya advise me to get?

Id advise you to get an electric guitar, since you already have an acoustic, and it will really open up some doors for your playing, and get you into playing more.

Hmm, made some research...thought of getting an accoustic/electric perhaps.

What brand/guitar would ya recommend?

I looked some general accoustic guitars in a good price range for me:

Washburn- G300s / C104SCE / WD44s / EA16 / G40E

Takamine- EG531SC / EG241 / C128 / EG530SC

Martin- 000X1 / DX1R / DX1

Ibanez- FX72nT / AEL10/ AW100CE

Fender- GA45SCE / GA45s

There seem to be a lot of good guitars in this price range, people are suited with...will be a tough choice- but perhaps some opinions which could make it easier :)?

Well, like I said, I think you should get an electric, but if you don't want to, then here' s my recommendations on acoustics, or the one's Ive played anyway.....

Washburn I don't think makes very good acoustics, but I haven't tried any.

Takamine makes some great acoustics, I don't know any model names, but Im sure there are some good ones in your price range.

If you can afford a MArtin, and like the sound, get it, those are very good acoustic guitars, and have a great sound.

Ibanez and Fender are ok, but I would not get one, I have a Fender, and it was sorta a starter pack, but it's not that great, but Id definitely go fender over Ibanez when it comes to acoustics.

the lower end martins don't sound good

takamines are good

dunno about wash acoustics, but ibanez acoustics are shitty, fender acoustics aren't great either

I would recommend a Takamine, the EG series(EG530) sound great in my opinion. Ive played one in a local guitar store here, and if i got an acoustic it would be my first choice. Mikael uses a Martin 0016 or something like that on D1&2, if you care.
