Ive owned a 5 string spector bass for about 8 years now.. Its the badest bass i could possibly own...Active EMGs amazing bass sound
everythime i did studio work with it i just run it direct and it sounds great!!! I have a discontinued europe model that you cant find anymore....
As for a thin neck?? Not so much

Just looked it up but surprisingly theres not much mention of it on the Fender site other than this:

Turns out its not exactly what I thought, its a switch that canges the pickup wiring between series and parallel. But when I tried it on my bassists american Jazz I instantly thought "that sounds like a p-bass" much chunkier and clunkier than a typical jazz bass sound.
