I would recommend Todd Solondz's "Happiness." Never before have I witnessed such a genuinely disturbing picture, one that is as sickening as it is sincere. It's the sort of film that reaches deep into the most unfathomable territories of your subconscious and forces you to awknowledge them, evoking a notable sense of nausea in your gut during the process. Oh, and if you're looking for graphic imagery, this film is not for you. The poignance is in the dialogue, not the aesthetics.
Oh yes, and Gaspar Noe's "Irreversible" is a jarringly violent film with a powerful and painfully-simplistic message. If you're a stupid one-dimensional simpleton who will only appreciate the first half-hour, avoid contributing to the bad reputation this film already possesses and stay far away. If you don't fit the aforementioned description, watch it. Watch it now.
