I think they belong in the over rated / under rated thread mate.
You mean massively underrated? Despite the weaker releases, Punishment for Decadence is fucking GOLD.

>>>Sorry, but that was pretty bad, in my opinion. More akin to Pantera and Machine Head than Thrash.

lol...what kind of metal is Machine Head and Pantera??

They used to be thrash, but I guess with the invention of 10000 genre's, they got moved.

Coroner...aaaugh...they belong in the thread best music with worst vocals category along with Nevermore. :-P

*scratches head*

They sound like good old american thrash to me...?

What defines thrash? It's not just pure speed as evidenced by a lot of suggestions on this board.

Machine Head's first and last album were pretty solid thrash to me. Great stuff.

I get it though...it's remotely popular because it changes speeds and isn't balls to the wall all the time...so we have to hate it.

Got it!

Machine Head is what many like to call "Half-Thrash," a type of pseudo thrash that chugs along with groove as a replacement for the tools used by Thrash. A good example is the band that you linked to earlier. Pantera was Half-Thrash on Vulgar Display of Power with a mixture of Groove Metal, and rode the Groove Train from there on out. Demolition Hammer's Time Bomb is another good example of this. They changed styles into this new Pantera-like model in order to attempt to capitalize on the trends (a la Machine Head and the band you posted about).
