should you record drums in a dead room that is only 12*14 feet with out any phase issuse, or do you think the room should be open and alot bigger?

not dead like metallica's first but not big like motley crue.....Almost like Machine Heads drums or Pantera sounding, but i know that they are mostly all sampled in.. smaller the room can cause a phase issue correct?

Well, There is always going to be phase happening when you're using as many mics as with drums. It's just a question of how much. If the room has a lot of parallel walls it's going to be bad. If not, with some acoustic treatment a smaller room could be pretty good!

my studio is being built right now as we speak and that is the only make shift room i could do to record a demo for a band? what would be some good ideas? like renting a hall or just doing it in my living room with foam on the walls?? my studio wont be done until july
