I've noticed the snap Andy's snares have (specially the 2003-2008 snares on his mixes) are not very common on musical productions. Could you guys post some examples of what I mean whether it is metal or not?

Examples of sneap productions with that?

For those that I know most,

Nevermore - Godless

Trivium - Ascendancy

Bullet - Hit The Floor.

Devil Driver - Makers Hand

I think its a case of not having a lot of reverb (compared to others) pushing the snare back and having so much come through the overhead. As far as I know snare replacement isn't as religious as his kicks, same with the toms, which tend to be dry.

This goes for faster records of course, I think a general aesthetic of these productions for modern sounding bands is relatively live compared to other producers and bands, and for the thrash stuff, definitely on the raw side.

I am talking about mixes made by some one else than Andy. I know there are artists that used that kind of sound of snare. I'm having a hard time finding artists with that sound so I'm asking if you've hear that on artists other than trivium, kreator, etc that worked with Andy.

It almost sounds like they are copy pasting Andy samples lol but I know there are artists even from the 80/90's with that sound just don't remember the names

nah you were right, was just rim center + eq + verb

and plus some other sample or a real snare blended to get a different sound

btw i LOVE this BFMV snare. Its the only song in the album with that snare sound :guh: and different from the usual snappy colins snare

:guh: Looking for mixes by some one else than Andy .....
Asking If we hear it with other artists, that worked with Andy?

Anyway, the mid 2000's commercial metalcore/nwoahm sound is dominated by Richardson, Adam D and Sneap.

Check out the Poisen by Bullet, and Killing with a smile by Parkway compared to Andy's work with Trivium, Chimaira.

Resurrection by Chimaira, compare to Romance Is Dead by Parkway especially.

Richardsons work on Scream Aim Fire is pretty comparable to any Thrash Stuff (aside from Megadeth) Andy worked on around that time,

weirdly, Richardson working with a modern band going for an older sound, and Andy working with older bands keeping up with the times somewhat (with production).

Implied facepalm.

I lumped "trivium, kreator, etc" and "that worked with Andy" at the end of the sentence referring to Andy's mixes in general.

I changed the words so you can get it.

:err: Trying to suss out what your asking so I could help further comes cheap huh?

No need to be snide ...

Pal.

I believe its a combination of the bob clearmountain and piccolo snare sample Sneap is always referring to regarding his snare sound.

in fact do a search for the D4 piccolo snare, compress it to give it some punch, you'll quickly recognize it.

Yeah rim center, piccolo and ctr rim are very similar but I can't get them sounding as good as the sneap ones even with heavy compression. It always ends up sounding almost exactly like this (punchy but not as awesome as the songs above):

If I blend another sample, it sounds a little better but still lacking awesomeness.
