Help with my snare sound

I'm brand new to this forum so I hope this hasn't been covered before, and if I'm looking in the wrong place sorry! I've always been curious as to how to get a nice, solid metal snare sound. I have SSD 3, I've just had trouble getting the snares on there to come out with a finished product I'm happy with. My typical snare chain looks like this:

EQ
Comp
Transient Designer (Recently added, new to these)
Reverb

Maybe I'm just not using the plugins in the right way for the snares? Most of my snares sound "flappy" from the SSD and don't have that punch/don't stick out in the mix.

Welcome to the forum.

If you can, post a clip using Dropbox for people to listen to your snare and try to help you out.

Also, check out the Search function. This topic has been covered a bunch of times.

Read a lot from this forum, every day, for a long time. Experiment, experiment. Trial and error.
