It depends on the style of the band. For example I used Within Temptation yesterday as reference, then again I have used everything from Jimi Hendrix to Lamb of God to Faith No More to Rotten Sound as reference.

Anyone got some good suggestions for some scene/crabcore/post-hardcore/metalcore/whateveryoucallit albums (-Joey Sturgis.. already know most his work heh) ?

to come with some suggestions I like the sound on house vs hurricane -Forfeiture .. but damn that album is loud.
the color morale - we all have demons also got some solid tones even tho it does not fit in all the sections.
