I'm posting this thread hoping mr Sneap will answer... but if anyone else know about this please answer....

I want to know some information about nevermore's guitar tone in dead heart in a dead world like:
- What equipment did jeff loomis use??...
- How many times did he record the rhythm tracks??..
- How were the rhythm tracks panned??
- Did they apply any effect on the guitars? (compression, limiter, reverb etc)
- Did they use any other trick while recording or in the mixing process?...

ok, from what I recall. Some custom built 7 string with emg, tube screamer, Mesa Dual Rectifier, Standard Marshall cab and 2 sm57s. Tracked 4 times, panned 100% left and right and 80% left and right. No compression, limiting etc, just a touch of eq.

One of the very best guitar recordings I ever heard and no comments about it??

Boy, things were very different back in 2002.

...I wonder how Andy had placed those two 57s....
