I think the drum humanizing would definitely help. The snare seems a little thin/smallish to me, like it could use some body. I think for this song the guitar sounds just a little too tight in the low to low mid area. I love the song and the clean guitar tone though! It's definitely not dire enough to go bald over
I don't really know if humanizing the drums would make "that" much of a difference (I reckon it comes down to personal taste for the most part. Think really the only things I noticed were the aforementioned snare issues (track down a nice CJ Wall snare sample and sit it a little higher in the mix and you could be golden) Also not too keen on the cymbal sounds or where they're sitting in the (they seem to be a bit too crisp/harsh for my taste.....if that makes any sense.) Overall it's pretty damn good track.
I'd say pull back on the master clipper/limiter because there is some definite audible distortion on the top of things. The kick could also maybe come down a little bit. Its footprint seems to dominate the mix focus.
Lower the guitars quite a bit for a punchy overall tone. I like the tight guitar tone. I'd say lower the guitar and boost the bass so that it's the low end.
If I were you I'd simply change the kick and snare samples to more "realistic" sounding ones. The issue is not with in-human timing. It's an issue with the tone. The kick sounds like DFH. (which is bad ofcourse )
for humanizing, i would say dont change the note placement, only the velocity. the kick sounds kinda hollow, but that could be my current headphones. and like i said on the other thread, cut the guitars down near 300 hz, open the overall tone, and pan the cymbal a little more in, not all the way though, for the most part though, i like your mixes
It's getting a lot better. Now the guitars sit in a more pro way. Snare could use a transient designer to get that POPPING sound. The snare could also be a bit higher in the mix. Maybe lower the kick... you can use that sample but don't have it that high.
I would definitely try to pull that snare out front, because now it's too buried and all I'm hearing is low "umpf" instead of crack... For start, try boosting the highs... And, maybe, the kick could use some extra compression...
I agree about guitars, they sound great!
