I love their first 4 albums, after that, their bassist quited from the mand and they never get over it...:D :D :D

I'll go to my record store and attempt to purchase one LP, ACE:D Pink Floyd isnt metal:mad: and isnt that bassist the mean chap who cancelled all the gigs to make it hard for them:lol:

cheerz Elmarad - because I got up again :D

from where i'm sitting all that debate about vinnies vocals is interesting. dont you realise that strangelight is duncan and he
knows all about vinny and his vocals.
dunc also understands the lyrics and who's feelings they represent.
vinny is a good singer in as much as liam gallagher of oasis is a good singer... someone who sings other peoples words quite well. the thing is alot of anathema fans dont appreciate that 90% of alternative 4 had nothing to do with vinnies feelings and vinny was just in the right place to be singing them.
its the same to a slightly less degree with all the albums.
this is not to put him down, simply to say that he sings other peoples stuff. not necessarily what he thinks or believes in. and if all anathema songs were about whatever he believes in, then it would be completely different and maybe not as profound.
if anyone takes offence in this they can bollocks.

Excuse me - no, I didn't who's who - will you punish me for that now?

So you and Dunc will get some beers from me...
:)

That's true in a way, but i think that it's not necessary to sing your own lyrics to pass your own emotions and passion throught them. The way Vinnie sings is so unique that simply touches your soul! Friends of mine that listen to anathema for the first time, the first comment they do is about Vinnie's vocals and how ''close to them'' they feel his voice! He sings in a way that he lives what he sings. And i think that either he sings his own lyrics (ex. "the beloved'' or ''leave no trace'') or other's like suicide veil, alternative 4 and release, he sings them in the same way and with the same passion! Oh, and Liam gallagher if he'll ever sing ''alternative 4'' he will shit all over his pants and run off the studio before he commits suicide!!!

hmm... "as much as liam gallagher", "not as profound"...

this isn't a hint at a waters/gilmour future (or past?) of Danny and Vinny, i hope? is everything ok?

for the opinion vulture protocol, i think Vinny has a nice, powerful voice, but "unique" is a praise too big for him. the "closeness" of his voice may be due to his "common guy" singing style, no? then, i admit i like his straightforward singing more than his attempts at finding a "voice" on some songs of Exit, where he ends up sounding like a more gray version of some other vocalists (t.y., j.b., ...) and compromising the strength of his voice at the same time. for a band with such direct, honest emotional content in the lyrics, a direct and straightforward voice fits very well. opinion protocol over. :)

LIAM GALLAGHER??? OASIS????? :yow:
SINGER??? He sounds like a cat whose tail has been fixed in mixer!
:puke:
And after all, he's from Manchester, isn't he? And he and Becks have got the same hairdresser, right?
:yell: :yuk:

I like Vinny's voice very much and i thinkthe fact that many Anathema fans still don't really know that most of the songs he actually has not written, show imo that he delivers his feelings when he sings the songs and that he can identify with the words his companions wrote. I don't know if you talk about those texts with the others but maybe he tries to express also what the writer wants to say, not only what he feels when hearing the music and reading the words. It's just a consideration of me.
Anyway, i think he does a very good job!
