Rockstar - Supernova revisited

I actually REALLY liked the new SUPERNOVA song last night. I can't get the chorus out of my head. I was singing it all night. Had a Cheap Trick vibe to it almost.

Toby really has been impressing me the past couple of weeks.

Dilana's comments were what they were. Either way, she will be in the FINAL THREE. That's a given.

As of today, my predictions for the FINAL THREE are:
Dilana, Ryan, and Toby

...from what i have heard so far, to me it looks/sounds like the music they are going to do is more radio-friendly....tommy even said it is ‘the fans that buy the tickets’...how many of those ‘fans’ that are voting have ever gone to a motley crue, guns n roses or metallica show? look at the girls in the audience...most look like they were not even born when those bands were in their heyday...:headbang:

Edgeofthorns, Jerry Cantrell was the -only- guy who is even mentioned with the word grunge, that had long hair. Amusingly, that is one reason why a lot of metalheads have respect for him.

Well, I may be way off base here, but I never really thought of AIC as grunge. In the sense of stripped down, Nirvana type anyways, but I see what you mean.

Word. It wasn't grunge. Except some of Lane's vocals may have been grunge-like, but the music wasn't grunge. Many uninformed call it grunge, because omg.. music out of seattle in the early 90s, had to have been grunge! >_>

Honestly, I've not heard any music from that band, but from the reviews I've read it doesn't seem to be all that great. I'll check it our regardless.
Curious... I opened the first few reviews that popped into Google after I typed "Voivod Katorz review" and they are all positive.

And that's not even their best... :D

I thought The End had the X-Stream mp3, but apparently not.

Unless I'm mistaken, Magni doubling the lead solo with the house band lead guitarist on FIRE last night was the first time any contestant (now or during the INXS season) played anything close to a solo on guitar. It was a cool moment.

If Gilbey really doesn't play solos, maybe they should hire Magni and he can also be their lead guitarist. :)

I mainly read the fan reviews on Amazon, because I figure they are the hardcores that buy stuff first. I don't know much about the band at all, so the reason I read those is due to me finding out Jason is in the band. I saw a used copy at a local music store of their latest disc, so I may swing by there and check it out.

I believe you are correct... I haven't noticed anyone else trying to play anything other than chords when they've strapped on a guitar. I think that Magni's rendition of "Fire" may just be the best performance of the season so far.

What you said above about Magni being hired to play lead struck something funny in my mind: *IF* they pick Lukas to be the winner of the show, they will STILL have to find a singer.

On the very first episode they said that they are not going to be a heavy metal band.

Yep.

Reason #44,743 why this 'reality' show isn't worth the digital photons it's recorded with.

"THIS week on Popstar Supernova, watch as amateur vocalists compete to sing for a bunch of musicians that have officially whored themselves and the project out for cash!"

Toby and Dilana got the Supernova song first to get marketed first, then get the boot.

Ryan is gonna be like Marty, good 2nd place.

Lukas is gonna win cuz he's young and talented.

Old and talented never win. Corporations don't hire old college grads. They want new thinking for less salary. They want the sexy young interns. They want somebody to fuck around with and get away with it.
