Rockstar - Supernova revisited

Lukas has been strong? A strong performer can remember the lyrics to a verse-chorus-verse HOLE song for fuck's sake.

He never annunicates. He never looks at the crowd.

Sorry, he is a poser to the 100th degree.

My pick is Dilana. Let's be realistic.
A female WILL win. Political correctness guarantees it.
That being said, there are truly then FOUR left.

Zayra - No way. Good singer but doesn't fit.

Storm - Poser alert, poser alert! Any true music fan can see she is in it just to be on camera.

Patrice - Can hold her own, but hasn't faired well. She is HOT as hell though!

Dilana - Yep, that's the one. She has the look and a great attitude.
Considering this is a new band, they will need the "gimmick" of a female singer.

I don't like Lukas either, but the band has reviewed him favorably for multiple weeks. For that reason, I see him being around for a long time.

I do agree it will be a female - either Dilana or Storm. I would like to see Patrice there as well, but she has put herself in a large hole and looks like she has lost confidence (she doesn't appear to be the same the last couple of weeks). I think Toby, Ryan, Zayra and Patrice disappear over the next 4 weeks...

I just don't see Storm as holding her own in the long run with the guys in the band.

I think Dilana is the only girl in the bunch that can really make it. And I agree, it would be the gimmick this band needs. I mean really, who wouldn't buy a ticket to see her rock out and go nuts with these guys?

The band does seem to really like Lukas. I think that's his biggest asset. But if they pick him, I see some major drama developing in the future. The guy is cocky now and he hasn't even got the gig yet. If he wins, it'll to straight to his head and I think he's going to start pissing people off.

At this point, they need to start considering who would be a good fit vocally as well as personally with the band.

Dilana is the only proper fit for this band, period! There's a couple that would do a good job, but Dilana was born to front a rock band. Also, I think the guys respect her and she doesn't strike me as the type to take any shit off of them either.

My bottom three from last night:

Toby - He gave a weak performance which was made worse by Gilby's struggles on guitar.

Zayra - I'm sure SN will have several spanish songs in the band's set. C'mon now.

Storm - Bad song choice, and the SN guys definitely want her to go home. Did something happen in Vegas?

Final 4:

Dilana, Lukas, Ryan, and Magni. Ryan seems to impress the guys more and more each week, but Dilana will win it.

My bottom three this week:
Patrice - What competition is she in? Certainly not this one. Not sure why she is still there.
Toby - I can see him taking Lance Bass's position in N'Sync before I see him in Supernova.
Ryan - I like his attitude and personality. I also like his willingness to try new things and listen to the guys in the band. BUT, I do not like his vocals AT ALL.

Zayra doesn't belong in this competition but I thought her song, Spanish or not, was pretty decent. Not right for Supernova and I also don't really think she is a great singer...but she did better than the three I mentioned above, imo.

Storm got a shitty song, unfortunately. It happens. But I think she is stronger overall than the other females (besides Dilana).

Magni has grown on me (I thought his performance of When Dolphins Cry was awesome) but he is just too laid back for this band. He would be a great replacement in Coldplay, if he wasn't required to play piano.

Lukas is still in the running simply because of his image and cockiness. Those 2 things are absolutely needed in this band. Look at who he has to contend with and take the spotlight from. But I don't usually care for his vocals all that much.

Dilana still stands as the only complete package and they would be foolish not to recognize that. Great stage confidence, unique and powerful vocals, the image the band is looking for combined with her attitiude and knowledge of music in general is the key to winning this thing.

I think I'm the only one on here who thinks that Ryan is the best. I've enjoyed him from the start. I think that he is capable of that alternative-rock, post-grunge, style that Supernova wants. He also is capable of a lot of emotion. I would like to see him sing a song that is more energetic, something that is not 'painful' to see if he can make a face other than one in pain. Lukas.. well I kind of like him. But he is a prick. And personally if I was supernova, I would have told him to go shut the feck up. I'm sorry you are in a competition. If you are too hungover to compete well, then you screwed up, deal, and don't use it as an excuse.

Dilana is okay to me. Her voice.. just isn't for me. I wonder if it was natural, or built that way after serious use of cigarettes and beer.

I wasn't inspired by her performance up there with Supernova. Then again, I thought the song was really generic. Hell, Dave Navarro's band Panic Channel's new album has songs better than that.

I agree. The worst part is: if that's an indication of what Supernova's music is going to be like, you couldn't pay me to listen to one of their CDs.

Can you say, "they suck"!!!! :puke:

If that song was any indication Panic Channel's songs are wayyyyyyyyy Better.:loco:

Patrice is next to go... Then Storm.... Then Toby.... Then Ryan.... Then Magni
Then.... Hmmmm Toss up between Skunk Boy and the Human Pin Cushion.

I didn't think any of the women did well this week:
Zarya: Ugh! Actually every week I thought Ugh! Gone 6 weeks too late IMO.
Patrice: Looks dead in the eyes, and just a flat performance.
Storm: Bad song, and bad execution of a bad song.
Dilana: How does someone competing at this level screw up the lyrics of a simple song like Cat's In The Cradle 3 times?

As for the guys:
I didn't like Magni's song choice, but he pulled it off well. I agree that he's too laid back to front Supernova. Toby 's finale saved his performance. I can't stand anything about Lukas, so for me the best of the week was Ryan.

Magius, I was wondering if I was the only one to notice her singing 'cats in the cradle and the silver moon, little boy blue and the man on the moon'

It was very unerwhelming. You could take the bext musicians and put them together that doesn't mean the chemistry will be there. Gilbey just sucks, imo

I noticed this!! I am surprised they didn't say anything about it.

ha, I heard that too! And was suprised it wasn't mentioned. I supposed she played it off well. Although the lyrics of that song are so well known, it was hard to miss.

I also thought it was kinda funny that more than one blamed their 'less than perfect' performance on the rough night in Vegas. But, um, tell me if I'm wrong here but.....isn't that the rock n roll lifestyle? If you can't handle partying with the boys for one night in Vegas, how the hell do they plan to hang on the road? If they can't party and perform....don't party. Otherwise, suck it up and make no excuses.

Yeah that was 1 blunder. In addition to the siver "moon" in the second chorus she sang "when you coming home Son?" in the 1st and 2nd chorus. The line is "when you coming home Dad?" until the 3rd chorus when the roles are reversed.

Doesn't matter now though, since she got away with it.

Well, that's the problem too, those guys aren't the best hard rock musicians regardless of what they think!
