Ron's strings?

Hello all.

I have been thinking of trying some different gauge strings of late. I typically use 9 to 42 but I just always have and was going to try some different ones out.

Before just buying a few different sets I had a look around and it seems that my strings are lighter most. However, there is also a lot around about Malmsteen using really light strings.

Ron isn't much of a slouch and I am more interested in playing some ink stuff so I wondered if he used light strings as well? Or if not what gauge? Is there any particlar reason either way?

I don't think you should worry about what gauge you use as long as it's comfortable for you. Alot of it depends on your playing style. If you pick really hard and use 9-42 you will probably break a lot of strings. Personally, I prefer 9-46.

i use 9-42.......but if you play tune down death metal ..you probly would want to us heavier gauged strings...

Yup. But Im thinking about getting it a bit down again. I really like the tightness but the H-String is just to fat. It really slows me down after a while...

Since everyone here seems to be using a higher gauge than me I might just go buy some and try them out.

Do that, there's no harm in trying, if they turn out to be not what u want, just try something else... There's so many around to choose from...

They'll feel similar on the high notes. They're just thicker on the 3 chunkier strings so you can abuse them more while playing rythm guitar.
