say something about ... yourself!

On Haight Street, right across from Amoeba. It would be a good opportunity, but "exposure" is the biggest bullshit excuse ever to rip somebody off. I'm not going to rely on anyone besides myself to make this business work, and I'm certainly not going to let his condescending attitude push me into making bad decisions.

Wow, I can't believe Stone would try to pull something like that. But then again, I've heard things...

Amoeba's going to be a tougher sell, as they're much higher profile, and, let's face it, your product isn't exactly band-approved. But then again, they do sell PunkStuff which is equally anarchistic.

If you just wanted to make money, you could probably just sell to the Wasteland's and Buffalo Exchange's, but that's not going to further the business.

I'd keep to record stores, and maybe the store-formerly-known-as-annubis-corpis.

I'll be of more help when I'm sober.

So I might not be able to sell my shirts at the record store where I was planning on doing so. The guy wants us to split the profit 50-50, and sent me a really long, super condescending message about how he's been in business for so long and is doing me a favor by giving me "exposure" and similar bullshit. Splitting the profits equally is absolutely absurd, since I'm the one making the investment, doing the work, and thus taking the risk, and all he has to do is find a space to put them in his store. I'm going to make one more attempt to negotiate (tell him that he can buy the shirts off me and mark them up however much he wants) and if that doesn't work this is going to be a big setback, but I'm NOT going to get swindled by someone with an extremely skewed concept of business, and I'm not going to operate at a loss just to get some "exposure" at a record store the size of my closet.

Ugh people are fucking frustrating. :bah:

Amazon.com takes over 50%.

college is fun John... you learn about responsibility, you meet awesome new people (some may be your life-long friends) and you accomplish something for yourself that later on, get you a better paid job.

Seriously: go to college.

Okay Karen, I'll try my best. :)

I'll probably end up waiting until next January when I have a more dependable job.

Yes I've heard things about him too. It's disappointed to see it firsthand though, especially when he starts talking down to me like I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to send him one last message and just be completely logical: he can either make some money off of this, or no money at all. He can't lose anything.

And yeah I already considered Amoeba and Anubis Warpus. I'll check out some of those thrift stores, but they generally pay you almost nothing.

Amazon.com takes over 50%.

Sounds like you're getting ripped off.

I had to use the Amazon Advantage program since it's a brand new product. If it's an item that's already registered on Amazon with a specific UPC, you don't have to go through Amazon Advantage.

Yes, I'm getting "ripped off", but to get the exposure and ease by using the Amazon.com name is a fantastic thing.
