Dunno if they are what you're looking for but Hot Cross are pretty cool. American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost is hardcore but awesome.

I don't know much about this genre, but people who take it seriously seem to jizz all over orchid, so they might be worth your time.

You might want to get into the original first wave bands like Heroin, Antioch Arrow, Angelhair, Portraits of Past, Swing kids etc.. basically the ones who started the scene on Gravity Records back in the early 90's.
