Selling your CD's over internet

Doing orders over in in Netherlands isn't that much of a problem to deal with.

But what I was amazed with where people who contacted us over the internet from the US and UK who want to buy our demo cd... don't ask my why, I have no clue.

No I've been searching for ways to do this. But most of the time (like me) I still like to have a real cd into my hand, with a booklet and stuff instead of having to download something and having it on MP3 on your computer..

How can I set something up like this? With creditcard processing possibility to order the demo, the shirt and more upcoming merch...

Paypal.....you can setup a merchant account with them so you can accept credit card purchases. They supply the code for you to drop into your webpage, etc. I've done several self-released projects before and have had no issues.

There's also a few sites which specialise in managing merch/cd's for self-released bands. Most of them are US-based and I'm not sure if there's European versions, but it's worth a google.

Not sure about that. I would suggest in depends on the local laws. In the UK you only have register as a company if you're generating over a certain amount of revenue (in Ireland art-related revenue is tax free). Anything else can be declared as part of your personal income for tax purposes (if you choose to declare it ). It really shouldn't be treated any different than other band-related revenue (invoicing for gigs, etc). It's just another means of collecting payment.

Check the help/FAQ section on Paypal for starters, there's a whole raft of information on there, but you should be able to register, create your merch site, drop in the paypal code and go....
