Man.. I love the guy.. And all the times I met him he was extremely cool!
But Andre Matos must be hard to work with!
will he ever get past the 3rd CD with any band? LOL
It's his third band already!

He had at least 4+ cds with Angra did he not?

1) Angels Cry

2) Holy Land + Holy Land Live

3) Freedom Call

4) Fireworks

Maaaan...I didn't think they had ever come to the states..grr. Shedap!:) You ever seen Aquaria since you're from Brazil? If so what do you think of them? Wait..so have you seen both old Angra and Shaaman live?

Shaman formed after I moved to the USA, so I didn't get to see them. Same thing with Aquaria, which I believe is done for good also. Their singer, Vitor Veiga sings now for Endless, a KILLER band!!

I hate to hear this news. AngraRules, you seem to know many bands from the Brazil area. Angra and Shaman are two of my favorites. Any recommendations that are similar? Thanks.

Sure!! Let me see if I can find my list I posted here a while ago. Gimme a few minutes!

Here it is :

Angra - I guess this needs no introduction
Shaaman - This shouldn't need either, but in any case, this is Andre Matos' (former Angra) "new" band.
Tribuzy - Already discussed another thread, can't miss this one!
Syren - Like power/heavy metal with excellent vocals and killer punch? You'll enjoy them!
Thessera - Progressive band that will most likely be the KING of Prog Metal in the vein of DT, PoS, Vanden Plas, etc, along Mindflow. Just plain UNBELIEVABLE!
Mindflow - Excellent technical Progressive Metal out through Nightmare Records. PoS fans will be delighted.
Tuatha de Danann - Some people may hate this... It's a Folkloric/Celtic Metal band with some Prog influences... Odd, but good.
Holy Sagga (former Sagga) - Very good power metal a la Angra.
Viper - Quite a classic, first band featuring Matos when he was only 15. They have a new line up now.
Dead Nature - Impressive Prog metal band with some power and thrashy influences.
Atlantida - Melodic Prog Metal with some hard rock parts... It's been selling amazingly well on CD Inzane and Laser's Edge and it sounds great.
Akashic - Another progressive metal band with great vocals and musicianship that puts many bands out there to shame.
Sleepwalker Sun - A Prog Metal band with female vocals that is very progressive.
Amazon - Nightwish-like power metal.
Harllequin - New band featuring ex Dark Avenger vocalist. Dark and heavy.
Toccata Magna - Progressive Power metal with Andean influences.
Eterna - Power metal band with Christian themed lyrics.
Khallice - One of the most technical Prog Metal bands from Brazil, they're called Brazil's Dream Theater.
Dragonheart - Power metal band a la Blind Guardian.
Dr. Sin - Hard Rock outfit that steps into metal lots of times.
Heavens Guardian - Power metal band. Good vocalist.
Venin Noir - If you like deep operatic vocals with a little Savatage-like vibe, you will like these guys. Former band of our friend of the forum, Angrafan.
Thoten - Great power metal band that used to feature Tribuzy on vocals.
Symbols - They used to have Edu Falaschi as vocalist. Power and Prog at times.
Fates Prophecy - Good Power Metal band.
Nordheim - Heavy metal band, heavily influenced by Maiden and Priest.
Imago Mortis - Excellent Progressive Power metal band.
Heavenfalls - Great female fronted power metal!
Hibria - Kick ass metal! Period.
Aquaria - Good Holy Land-era-Angra-like (too much sometimes) band.
Thalion - Power metal band with female vocals. They are a bit too young and still have to find their identity. First album not bad at all.
Endless - Unbelievable band with a killer kick in the balls style of power metal, featuring Vitor from Aquaria on vocals.

Please, enjoy ALL of them. But do it, responsibly.

I never had the chance to see either Aquaria nor Shaman... But old Angra I saw 6 times.. :)
2 on the holy land tour.. and 4 on the Fireworks Tour... They were incredible live!!

I recommend Imago Mortis! They don't sound anything like Angra.. They are a pretty unique Doom Metal band... It's nothing like My Dying Bride or anything like that.. It's doom, but with more clean vocals and it's pretty melodic....
Their second album, Vida, is one the 5 best metal albuns ever released in Brazil.. Fucking great record! :)

SHAAMAN broke up BUT www.AndreMatos.net OPENS UP!! (Something I just posted in myspace)

Sad news that they broke up..ticks me off ESPECIALLY because I never got to see him live in any band he's been in..BUT I looked and saw that Andre Matos' personal website is now running officially and has alot of goodies in it.

If you go to www.andrematos.net and click the top left flag icon for English (unless you can understand portugese like Angrafan, IceQueen etc..does) you'll see what I'm talking about..It has stuff you may have never seen or heard before. His Discography is in there with music and video samples from all the bands he's been envolved in. Really cool audio and videos, some of which I've never seen before from Angra, Shaaman, Virgo etc..Obscure stuff from previous bands he's been in. Some TV appearances too. Really cool stuff I think.

Anyways, if you care check it out and see what you think..man he should pay me for this!:) Nah, I like doing it. Probebly because he's my most favorite singer and performer..right up there with Toshi from X-Japan. Have a great day and enjoy.

Yeah the site's fairly new, it looks like it's going to be pretty cool in the future, it has a lot of great pictures and videos too, unlike most 'official' sites. I found some stuff on there I hadn't seen before, if I was him I'd be embarrased to post some of those Viper pictures where he has that dyed blonde hair :p.

Haha Ill check it out later. I havent slept in a day or two. Looks like theres quite a bit of stuff to check out there. I didnt know he won all those awards for vocals and keyboards etc.., though Im not surprised.

Off to lala land. Goodnight all.

Shamann was awesome live!
I saw Shamann with Viper, Kotipelto, and Edguy 2 years ago.

It was mainly Matos that made Shamann awesome live; he is an amazing front man (that is probably why he doesn't stay in bands very long; the others probably sick of him getting all the attention and stealing the show).

It was also great to see Matos and Sammet do some songs together. (Also having two of the hottest lead singers out there on stage together was an added bonus :) ...too bad there were thousands of people in front of me; I'm thankful for giant video screens)

I'm sure any band Matos fronts will kick ass live; I hope we can get him to PP some day.
