Shit... Porcupine Tree Rock!

porcupine tree is one of my fave bands!

theyre working on a new album right now, and its rumored that it will be a little heavier than usually, with guitars somewhat inspired by opeth.

very very cool.

They can be quite heavy. But it might be just me, but the music sounds very sure of itself...

???

anyway, Russia On Ice.. WOAH.

yeah Russia On Ice is the definitive prog rock song. it has it all.

i'd say their best album overall is Signify. it would be ideal to check out first.

Their last two, Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream have a mix of really progressive stuff (like Russia On Ice) and some relatively disappointing brit-pop sounding parts, which was actually what SW was going for.

Recordings was released last year as a compilation of unreleased material. so it's basically another album. it also has the original full length version of "Even Less."

Metatonia is another recent release. it's a live album of long improvised instrumentals. very cool.

The Sky Moves Sideways was the album prior to Signify. it's probably their second best album. the songs are long, proggy, and trippy.

Up the Downstair is another great album, similar to TSMS.

Voyage 34: The Complete Trip is a half hour LSD trip. it's structurally similar to UtD and TSMS. there are also two remixes of V34 on the album.

Coma Divine is a 1997 live recording that covers material from the beginning up to that point.

. . .On the Sunday of Life is their first album. it's pretty weird, but thier are a couple awesome songs as well.

Stars Die : The Delerium Years 1991-1997 is double cd that was released this month. it's sort of a 'best of' of material prior to the Stupid Dream era.

those are the major releases. the new album will very much a metal effort. Steve Wilson's biggest musical philosophy is to keep evolving and never stagnate.

Yeah Porcupine Tree rocks, I have Signify and Lightbulb Sun. Lightbulb Sun makes me fall asleep, so I like Signify better. :)

"Sleep of no dreamiiiing, sleep of no dreeeeeamiiiing.." ah, it's so beautiful.
