Okay. I'm doing a little gay project paying tribute to the old school death metal bands from the mid 80's. Master / Deathstrike, Devastation, Mantas, Voor, etc. Very simplistic. Very brutal. James M will know the score, I'm sure.

I've recorded the music to this track tonight. I admit I've had a few beers, but I guess that's in the spirit of things :)

What I'm aiming for is a slightly sloppy, very heavy sound, but I seem to have the "pillows over the speakers" effect, and no amount of tweaking seems to help. I also need to know if the overall mix is okay, or should I start again from scratch (I'm probably going to re-record the guitars. Loads of mistakes, but I'm getting used to them with repeated listens...)?

Anyway, advise from some folks would be nice. I'm new to this game :)

MANGLED DEHUMANIZATION - "Orgy of the Damned" (no vocals)

I like the guitars!!! What the track really needs is a more dynamic drums!!! The drums on your song are not really 'swinging'...

You can try to spice it up a little bit by programming the hi hat like it plays not only on the snare and bass beat but continuously. 16th beats?

Cheers!

The guitars are going through a couple of custom presets on Guitar Rig, direct into my laptop.

the drums are kind-of on purpose. It's supposed to be a very simple "boom / dah" 4/4 timing, similar to the old demos like Majesty, etc. I even thought twice about adding those ride bell frills during the chorus part :). I do know what you mean though. I think I'll run a CAL on the drums and humanize them a bit.
