Short HOW DO MIC CABZ - ¯\(°_o)/¯

man that i5 sounds beast

Thanks Arv!

It really just takes the right placement to get it sounding really good. I actually got pretty lucky and found that spot totally by mistake on a session I did last week with that cab..lol

I used it to place my 57 and when I hit record I had the wrong channel enabled, and I was sitting here going FUCK that 57 sounds great. Looked at my interface and I said .. HOLY SHIT, thats the Audix!

So from here on out I use all 3 of my mics and then just keep the ones that sound best for the final mix.

Here is a vid I threw together of my mic'ing technique when I do reamps. I am sure I left a bunch of small details out, as I hate looking at my fat ass on the camera, and I hate my fucking voice so I tried to make it short, but this is just how I prefer to mic my cabs. There is also a short tour of my DAW, Amps & Cabs.

You can hear audio samples of each mic at the links below the video.

I'm watching the tutorial and I have a newbie question that has nothing to do with the topic: what is that material were your studio monitors are on?

I have another noob question, what's the cat's name and is he trained as a greasemonkey for your studio? I've been three days with mine, perhaps you could give me some pointers? :)

The cats name is Marduk (named after the Sumerian god not the band..lol)

No he is not trained at all unfortunately, hes a pain in the ass and loves to scratch the cloth on my Marshall. In fact hes doing it right now and I need to go kick his ass.

Can't you put a sort of electric fence and rattle him a little?

Btw Guru, I would stick with them drum triggers you have (I'm guessing they're Drumdial triggers?) and just get some broken DDrums on the cheap. Mount the Drumdial's to the Ddrums and you've got best of both worlds.

Either that or get some Roland's. Ddrums break all the time and really aren't worth the hassle.

No idea who makes these I got them from a friend with all the 1/4 inch cables when he closed his studio a few years ago. He didnt rememebr who made them. The only thing it says on them is "proco musicmover 120sm" and that's written on the cable. Thats the name of the cable they use on the triggers.

My guess is they are: http://drums-percussion.musiciansfr...rcussion-Red-Hots-DR1-Drum-Trigger?sku=444035

They are fairly accurate, they get a bit lost on super fast fills, but they get the job done.

next time the cat does that set up the cab for reamping, set peavey post gain to 7, hit play and see how fast he can run and if he wants to do it again after he finished shitting all over your place ;)

nice video! i also have saffire 40, can i reamp directly from card to amp, or do i need a pedal? ( i don't have TS)
