Silhouette

silhouette is better than most beethoven sonatas

Haha, I actually did a report on Beethovens Piano Sonata No. 14 in C sharp minor ("Moonlight Sonata") in my AP music theory class in high school. Its actually kind of fun to compare the two. Their both in 3/4 time for the most part. The bass kind of goes through the arpeggios (the notes of a chord played in a row one at a time ) with Silhouettes chords in the begining while its the opposite pretty much the whole way through in Moonlight Sonata. In Silhouette the right hand switches to the arpeggios around the 45 second mark and goes crazy with the tripplets while the bass just plays the quarter notes. I figured out how to play the majority of the song. Its actually alot easier than it sounds, I just figured out what chords the arpeggios are going through and than its just the basic root third fifth pattern through each chord for the most part. The bass part was pretty easy to figure out because Anders plays one note at a time. I cant figure out how to play the part that goes from 1:20 to 2:00 minutes yet but after that part it goes back to the bass arpegios again. I could write it out for you if you really want to learn how to play it, I would just have to take a picture of it or see if I can get my scanner to work, lol. Heres a link for Moonlight Sonata so you can see what the hell Im talking about, haha. Hope I didnt bore you all with all the music lingo, I just think its a really great song. It proves that metal is the closest thing to classical music in modern culture.

I forgot to mention Silhouette is also in C minor, just in case someone wants to try and figure it out by ear.

A friend of mine performed silhouette at his music school public exams, he changed the second part of the song a little bit because he couldn't transcribe that part by ear, but he used the notes posted here to learn it ;)

Maybe he will upload the video somwhere :P
