Silly things that make you irrationately/unproportionately annoyed or upset

I should have said: my entire family minus my mom who now has a Nissan.
But yeah- they are all big on Alfas. Great cars... I actually owned one when I first started driving, but seriously I hated the stick...
what can I say, I love fast cars, but I cant stand the stick driving.
I laugh at all the idiots in DC traffic or any big city traffic for that matter, who drive a stick in rush hour... hah!

I've had just as many cars/trucks with automatics as I have standards, and even though I hate rush hour traffic in a standard, I'll never go back to an automatic. It just feels like I don't have as much control over the vehicle as I would with a standard.

My uncle had a beautiful 92 Ford Mustang 5.0, completely loaded, all the fancy handling accessories...with a fucking automatic transmission. I told him it's like having a Ferrari with the engine of a Fiat 500. And you know what he would do? HE WOULD SHIFT THE FUCKER FROM 2 TO 1 TO DRIVE JUST LIKE A MANUAL.

...my car is semi-automatic anyways.. on Infinity FXs there is a shift that you can actually switch to "sport driving" where I have total control on the gear and pretty much drive a non-automatic car only without the annoying clutch.

It's nice to have it when I drive long distances and love to feel the 'gears', but freaking awesome to have the automatic car in rush hour!

Yeah I mentioned that earlier. The speed/sport shifting hybrids are a completely different animal, and if you have a car with one of those, chances are you're not too worried about either gas mileage or horsepower because you've probably got plenty of both. Most cars with those transmissions are sport/luxury cars with enough expensive technology to give you plenty of both.

Like I said, I like fast cars :p

It feels great to feel the gear beneath me change when I drive on open road, so i get what you're saying about the gear and the "drive feel" (and being raised in an Alfa fanatic family helped too)
But I think my next car probably will be "greener" ....

I do agree with you on one issue Chris: When you learn how to drive- you should learn on a stick as a MUST, unless you insist to only drive automatic cars which in that case- should say so on your license, and you will never be able to drive a stick car, unless you upgrade your license. That's the way it is in israel, for example.

Absolutely. I'm not saying, "Heee herrrrr, you have an automatic transmission, wuss!!!" Not at all. Like I said before, I've owned just as many automatics as I have standards. But people who must pass a driving test should be forced to do it with a manual transmission if they want to be able to drive all cars. If not, your license should denote that you can only drive automatics.

Another thing that I think should be implemented (if it hasn't been already) in the states is that your age determines what car you drive. A 16 year old girl should not be driving a fucking Hummer, nor should a 17 year old boy be driving a suped-up Toyota Supra. There should be a horsepower limit in the US determined by your age just like there is with the rest of the world. It would solve all the problems with idiot kids who drive like retards because they have a big car/truck that they have virtually zero experience in driving. How can they be allowed to drive these monster cars and trucks when most of them can't even use a clutch? It's idiocy.

Wet bath mats. Dry your damned feet, and preferably your whole body, BEFORE you step out of the shower. Is this not common sense? Freakin' people I live with obviously get out just dripping wet, and drip-dry whilst standing on the mats. The mats don't dry. They stay wet, get stinky, make the floor stinky, and it feels like stepping on a wet sponge.

I give up, I'm not gonna wash and dry the mats every time this happens because it happens too often. HAVE YOUR WET MATS. I'll just roll them out of the way when I need to use the bathroom. One of the perps is showering right now, guh.

Not to change the subject of standard vs. automatic transmissions. Please, carry on. And on. And on.

Here in some parts of towns/cities there are speed zones where there are fixed radars that control red lights further ahead, so if you go too fast you'll be forced to stop at the red light.

I completely and utterly despise driving through these areas because there's always some asshole who is so impatient that I'm following the speed limit that he passes me and the radar catches his speed, triggers the red light at the next intersection, thereby stopping all traffic including him. Makes me wanna pull them out of their car and curb stomp them.
