Well hummmf what a great first pOST - if you read around (talk of a group buy has been going for a week or more now) enough to be considered a member of the forum (which was a prerequisite for the group buy in the first place), maybe you wouldn't be in such a predicament?

Sorry if come across as a cheapskate, I do frequent this forum and have done for a few years, as a lurker obviously, but not so much the gear forum as I have very limited funds for gear, hence my disappointment in missing out on this deal. All the power to you guys for getting it happening with Slate and enjoy the plug. Must be nice when this sorta money is considered 'trivial'. Shame no doubt someone will have their way with it real soon, I support the developers. My $.02Aud

To quite a lot of us here this sort of money is in no way considered 'trivial'. If it was, we wouldn't have requested a group buy. If you had followed the original thead you would see a lot of people had to make careful considerations as to whether they could invest in this group buy or not. And now some of the ones who were late in figuring out whether they could save enough money to join or not won't be able to because you broke the rules and posted about it at Gearslutz.

Thanks for your appreciation of my lame sense of humor. Trying to keep this short: I used to work more than full time at a CD plant. I did all of their mastering and top level QC in the afternoon/evening, and then switched to relief operator, actually running the injection moulders, until my buddy came in to take over for the graveyard shift.

He's a great guitar player, and has had a relatively well known metal band for a long time. He introduced me to a lot of excellent music and people like Sneap, etc. I used to kid him about the Tull thing, since I'm a longtime prog fan (ducking). He moved on to a better job and I eventually got laid off as the music industry went down the tubes.

Okay, here's how my joke finally ties back into my problem. I'm still unemployed and my benefits and extensions have run out, so I really can't afford this even at $150. But, I wanted it bad enough that I thought I'd sign up after it hit 60. So, I did. Well, then gooberhead had to spoil it. I guess I'm just worried that there's not enough pad to insure the best price.

For what it's worth I sincerely apologize for ruining your GB, I had never heard of a 'private' group buy and simply scanned the prices and jumped to see where it was at, oblivious to the rules. Regardless of some of the arguments raised over at the purgatory called gearslutz I do see the valid point of such a deal here and hope you all get and enjoy the plug.

The catch is, no posting about it in other public forums besides Ultimate Metal (what you do privately is ok). And the group buy will go for one week only.

What if there was at least a reserve list, so that if someone bails, their slot could be filled a regular. That could be based on sign-up order, number of posts, registration date, etc. This would also help insure the best price for everyone by keeping it over 60... just an idea.
