Slate Virtual Tape Machine

Demoing it right now. I've gotta say, this is the first tape plugin where I'm not going "kinda cool but where did my fidelity go?" Even in 16 track mode the fidelity is better than 2 track mode in competing products. 2 track mode in VTM on the master bus is absolutely crushingly awesome. I can't wait to dive deeper and really explore the feature set.

This really is achieving the "magic" quality of tape that I haven't heard from a plugin to date. I foresee using this on everything!

I downloaded it to demo, but the installation failed on my machine... the rtas PKg and VST PKG are 85 kb....

Hit slate up on twitter; but I want this thing NOW

Just downloaded the demo. Tried to slot this into a mix session I'm doing now and it's too cpu intensive for my machine, even just sticking it on buses instead of individual tracks. Tried it on a small 8 track drum session and it does sound REALLY good, especially when you're using it with VCC aswell.

Only way I can see me being able to use it is either upgrading my machine (NOT happening right now) or printing it using Audiosuite before I even start mixing.

In any case if you add console saturation to tape emulation, unless you're doing a simple 30 tracks recording, printing is almost mandatory. Even of I don't hit 100% on my CPU, the whole behavior of my setup is smoother if I don't run 40 instances of vcc and 25 of MPX !

Yeah I think that's the only way to go. Maybe makes it a bit difficult to audition the different settings before printing though. Might just have to put an instance on the master bus and make my decisions based on that.
