how did it become common knowledge that slayer death metal? i have a lot of trouble with kids about that. its " whats thrash metal? no, i know what im talkin about, slayer is death metal"

Because in the mid-80's everything was "death metal" for the most part. Even black metal was touted as "metal of death" or whatever. That's probably where the misconceptions come from.

Or people you associate with are just halfwits.
