Hell Awaits > Show No Mercy by 100 miles. If any of you disagree you suck at listening to slayer. Hell Awaits is the first Slayer album in truth. Show No Mercy while great is just amatuerish kids demenstrating how much they enjoy Priest & Maiden. Slayer after was more in touch with underground extreme acts progressing a lot. Hell Awaits is monumental for the time it came out.

I thought Diabolus and God Hates Us All were both frankly awful. There was only "Screaming from the Sky" on Diabolus was any good, and God Hates Us All was just terrible.

South Of Heaven is my fave Slayer album. I know a lot of people think its boring, but I think the mid pacing of the songs allow for a lot more menace to creep into the tracks.

"Mandatory Suicide" is my favourite track of theirs.

I don't want to wade into such a monumental discussion like "Show No Mercy" vs "Hell Awaits" (hey, I can see why such an important discussion can spawn comments like "I hope you and your mom die of AIDS"), but for what it's worth, I think Show has great songs, but Slayer weren't capable of performing them well at that point. Hell Awaits has better production and playing, but some weaker tracks.

seriously tho... slayer is boring as hell. Show No Mercy is the only album worth owning. The other earlier albums arent bad... but they are so fucking over rated. Not quite as overrated as a metallica album... but close. Anyone looking for kick ass thrash should forget about slayer... there are so many other bands that are so much better. Artillery, Vio-Lence, Testament, Sodom, Heathen, Exhorder, Kreator, Obession, Metal Church, Forbidden, Sentinel Beast... the list goes on and on. Not everyone with agree with me, but in my opinion slayer is way too overrated...

You can't be serious. I can't believe some of you here are saying Show No Mercy is their only worthwhile album.
