Slayer!

I've honestly never really cared for Slayer. But Recently I gave listen to their "God Hates Us All" album.....To me it sounds like angst for a rebellious young christian.

um...even most DIEHARD Slayer fans hate that album.

Well you didn't exactly elaborate on how much exposure you've had to Slayer, only mentioning their (debatably) worst album in your post. This would lead a person to wonder if you've given their older stuff a chance. If you have, that's fine, I really don't give a crap, I just brought that up in case you hadn't.

Actually yeah I have given their earlier stuff a chance, its nothing that I personally would listen to. But its not by any means bad. I just brought up the issues because recently on another forum I read a thread where numerous amounts of Slayer fans (older fans too) still considered "God Hates Us All" to be amongst there best, and that only left me to question.

Thrash is generally opposed to as a whole on this board anyway, so what the hell is the point?

I'm a relative newcomer Dodens. Are you saying that the prevalent opinion here is anti-thrash ?

For the most part, I would say yes. There is an extreme bias toward extreme metal with very little positive commentary on more traditional genres, it seems.

For shame. I like extreme as much as the next guy (as long as he ain't a Nazi), but to know where you are going to, you've got to know your history.

There are some REAL gems hidden in the bowels of metal history.

As of right now I have the first four Slayer albums, and I'm plannig on getting Seasons Of The Abyss and Divine Intervention soon. I'll name my favorite song from each of the first four:

Show No Mercy: Tormentor
Hell Awaits: Necrophiliac
Reign Of Blood:Angel Of Death
South Of Heaven: Behind The Crooked Cross
