Sleep paralysis/False awakenings

I think Warrel should elaborate more on "the maiden" ;)

Ghosts are real, have stupid names and robbed me several nights' worth of sleep!

They look like that:

I'd actually like to hear more about it, actually. The maiden, that is.

Aww, I remember going to Don Pablo's with Karen and Steve (fretsaflame), and Karen telling a ghost story on the car ride there. Those were the days!

Which one did I tell you? The one in Holland and the freaky room?
I have a lot of 'stories' but I never experienced it from first hand, and I am known to be quite the 'ghost provoker' too.
Like if you tell me there's a ghost in your house, or a place that is haunted, I would sleep in your basement alone waiting for "it" to appear, or for example, camp out at the Blair Witch Project forest with my friend karen, and waiting to see SOMETHING.
Needless to say, nothing happened or appeared, no matter how many sleep overs I had in "haunted houses"

I love ghost stories, much like I like mythology. They're not real, but hella fun to hear about.

Well when you try that hard you're bound to be disappointed. That's kind of like buying a scratch-off ticket and expecting to win something. Even in very haunted places, it's not every day that something happens. You've just got to be in the right place at the right time. Considering all the stuff that happened in my grandma's house, it really didn't occur all that often. But over a 30+ year history, there were a handful of experiences.

Including but maybe missing something:

-Apparition of my grandma's father-in-law standing at the foot of the bed soon after he had died.
-Candlestick flying across the den.
-"Whoosh" that blew open the deadbolted door without harming it, maneuvered through the house, and blew out a window.
-My grandmother receiving garbled voice phone calls right after someone close had died, before finding out they died.
-Boy and girl on roof seen by me, and quite possibly by the dogs some years later.
-Hand appearance #1 seen by my brother.
-Fucking scary hand appearance #2 seen by me.

Then of course, there was the garbled voice message I received on my cell phone the day after my grandma died. No missed call, just a voice message. She'd promised to try and reach us via phone when she died, so we'd know if there was anything to those phone calls she had received. Her sister also received a similar message on her answering machine. What are the odds that we would both receive messages like that? Seven years later, I still haven't received another voice message like that.

I am now a believer in the afterlife, ghosts and spirits because it has been studied scientifically, by like... the U.S. government.

Actually, on a related note (somewhat), during the period where I heavily researched and practiced Astral Projection and OBEing, I came across some information regarding how the government had a yearly budget for "researching" Astral Projection. In fact, it actually inspired me to write a book regarding astral espionage in the art of war but frustrated with writer's block, I scrapped it.

Also related, I have experienced and have collected evidence proving the existence of the presence of spirits/ghosts. Though, I'm what you would call a scientific skeptic. Even though I have seen (and heard) what I have seen, I am still skeptical since a scientific theory to explain the data might still be possible.

I'm a believer in the paranormal.

I have an audio clip of a little girl that has been spotted many times around the casino. Not a harmful ghost, but a playful one. One day I took a voice recorder and left it overnight in the HR Office. When I finally was able to grab the recorder i listened to all of it. This is really early in the morning, before HR even opens (around 3-4am.)

I've tried to debunk the sound and i have no explanation for it. I know what every sound is but that one I know is that little girl everyone has told me about.

It's like it snickered or something.

Yeah, exactly Isabel.

Why don't you post some of that collected evidence then?

Or better yet, if it really "proves" the existence of ghosts, why don't you submit it to the scientific community and get a bunch of money and recognition? Oh yeah, cause you know as well as I do that it doesn't prove shit.

My god, an almost entirely inaudible sound? Guess that proves it once and for all.

The thing is that everyone here who claims to have experiences with the paranormal already believes in the existence of ghosts. If you were religious, you'd probably attribute strange occurrences to God, if you were into UFOs you'd claim it was alien activity. Saying without a doubt that you've "seen" a ghost is total bullshit because you have no way of knowing what a ghost would look like.

Meh O.K., I get it, I kind of contradicted myself and you caught it. Congratulations. You get a gold star.

Anyway, "prove" is kind of a strong word so I retract the word and replace it with "suggest". People base things off of their experiences and I know what I have experienced; enough to make me not deny the existence of the paranormal. Though, that doesn't necessarily prove that the existence is apparent but rather suggests the possibility of the existence. There are pictures and such that we have taken and cannot be explained. Though, I feel that these pictures (no, not stupid fucking orbs aka dust particles) don't hold enough data to prove anything because there could be a scientific explanation for the images. The suggestions I have witnessed are mainly due to experiences but there are also audio files that we have acquired that hold no scientific explanations, especially the ones that can be made out as actual human speech.

I don't have the audio file that I find the most convincing but I will try to get it from a friend that does have it.

Still nobody's given me that statistical chance that I would receive a strange, garbled voice message the day after my grandma died. Can I really attribute it to some sort of technical error, since that was the ONLY time it's ever happened, ever? On that day, of all days? And, what about the chance that both me AND her sister would receive those messages the day after she died...? Her sister wasn't even aware of the calls my grandma received in the past, nor of her intention to contact us via phone.
