most definitely, Frank. but my thread was moved to the "other place" because apparently Frank isn't metal enough. haha.
"Iowa" is still one of the most intense and extreme metal albums of all time, regardless of being nu-metal or not. the key being nu-METAL. like it or not Slipknot are metal however you slice it.
RIP, regardless of circumstances. some people cannot overcome their demons no matter how hard they try. Layne Staley, anyone?!

R.I.P. Yeah, it's always unfortunate when someone dies.. I don't like Slipknot (at all) so my life won't be affected by his passing though. As far as I'm concerned, Slipknot is a terrible band.

I seem to be missing something here I guess, maybe it is my incapability to understand social conditioning. But this guy was a druggie correct? He killed himself basically. Now how does that compare to Dio's passing?
I have often wondered why our culture basically deifies drug addicts. Looking at this the same way as someone who is unfortunately taken against their will or by something other than stupidity just does not makes sense. I have no sympathy for the guy; if he o.d. then well you get what you pay for, if he planned on killing himself then he got what he wanted so happy for him. But no this is NOT the same as in the other cases.

I agree with it not being the same thing.I just simply was saying people in the metal industry are taking a hike very quickly lately.Maybe you were not referring to my initial post,but I just wanted to make it clear.I couldn't tell exactly who you meant your post for.

I don't think anyone is putting this on the same level of Dio, either due to what he meant to the industry or the way he died. You are correct there.
However, I wouldn't say I have zero sympathy either. I'm 100 percent against drugs. Always have been, but it's a serious problem that some just have troubles fixing. So yeah, I feel bad that he wasn't able to overcome it. More than anything though with this case, I agree with Jasonic in that it disturbs me considering he has a pregnant wife.

Nope, doesn't work. I'm sure this guy had dare programs in school and he was well aware of what would happen or could happen.
Um, kid on the way, wife, drug problem, didn't we see this in the 90s with someone else unjustly deified?
I can't help but to see it as Stan's dad when he was diagnosed with ac holism so then he had to drink.
