Slipknot - Iowa tone question

Hey guys,

Do any of you know what amps/cabs/mics/whatever were used on Slipknot's 'Iowa'? Curious because I can't really pick it by ear alone, but it's got a cool raw/aggressive, yet at the same time smooth vibe.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I heard they were using Rivera Knucleheads for a very long time.

According to Root it was a Orange Rockerverb 100, Rivera Knucklehead, and Bogner Uberschall with a Jackson Soloist with EMG's and a T75 Loaded Rivera Cab

On Iowa they´re recorded with krank krankestein although they are/were endorsed by rivera. I know at first hand (Jim roth words thru msn...)

Iowa was released in 2001 and Krank Amps started making amps in 2003... So unless you're talking about another album, I can't imagine that being correct.

The whole mix on that album is insane. I really dig the live feel of the drums on that album. Guitar tone is soul crushing tho. Vocal performance just gives me chills. Everything is so up front and in yo' face. Like crillemann mentioned I also heard about it being run through a bassrig.

I got a whole pdf of the subliminal verses drumrecordings (mics, pre-amp and fx setup. But since we're talkin' bout guitar on iowa that's not of much use.

Corey's never been as angry and tortured sounding in the more recent albums. Iowa and Slipknot have some of the best screaming vocal performances ever in my opinion.

No Doubt Iowa is the best sounding album they've done. I was really let down with all hope is gone, Jordison's trademark drum sound was completely gone and in some parts sounded almost like programmed drums, while on Iowa the drums are simply brutally true

Yeah man, the mastering job on that absolutely stinks! It's SO loud, but at the expense of the mix.

That said, I do love the rawness of it. It sounds like it was almost played live, really simple and stripped-down sounding.

I thought that they used 5150 actually? I'm probably wrong though, but I think I remember seeing them use 5150's and Mesa cabs when they played the Heretic Anthem on Conan.
