Slipknot - Iowa tone question

I'm sitting with a copy of Guitar World from august 2001 in front of me, and they're doing an interview with Mich Thompson and James Root regarding their (then) new album, Iowa.

"Root used a Strat-style BC Rich for most of the recording, split between two heads-a peavey 5150 and an old Laney." He also said that he was replacing the Laney with a Mesa/Boogie DC10 when he went out on the road, but that he wanted to keep his live sound as close to the album sound as possible.

"Thompson, who refers to himself as a complete guitat dork, uses a plethora of custom B.C. Ricj Warlocks and VHT Pitbull Ultra Lead amps."

is this the one issue with Root and Thompson on the front cover (and a poster of them as well) ?

i still have that issue somewhere i think :) (if i didn't dump it)

young Slipknot fanboy i was :)

Yeah, that's the same one! Was a big fanboy myself, but I stopped listening to them as I got into "real metal" and thought they were nu-metal. I'm glad I'm over that shit and just listen to music I like again. I'm having a blast listening to Iowa again!

I read in a Japanese interview that they played through Marshall MS4s. I should add that I don't actually speak a word of Japanese and so my translation may be a little off.

It's the same era and it came up when I did a search combining Slipknot, Iowa, 2001 and Guitar World.
