Slipknot

uhhhh. well it depends on what you like. I probably would save my time/money and not get either one of them, but I had a friend burn me a copy of the second one. It just kinda sits in my cd pile. I know this isn't much help but I guess do what you like

Go and get the first album, 'Mate feed kill repeat', it's awesome, and it is NOTHING like the 'Slipknot' album that everyone loves, they had a different singer at the time, and there is some great guitarwork. Get 'Gently' off the first album (there is also a song called 'gently' off IOWA, but it sucks, so if you get some song with a pile of niose, get a different one, it should start with clean guitars...)

Also, check out 'Purity' and 'Prosthetics' off the crap album.... they are actually fsairly decent, intense, and his vox are great, NO rapping bullshit.

Forget the rest tho.

The second and third albums are really different to eachother, when you listen to them.

I prefer the second one (Self-titled).

I was going to buy a CD-R of MFKR from a pleasant lad in England for 40 quid, with copied packaging and all, but he told me he didn't think it would be worth it (Considering I live in Australia).

From the samples I have heard, it's a killer album.

Just think of it as a different band to current day's Slipknot ;)

it is so goddamn trendy to call slipknot nu-metal. while their self-titled album did have some undesirable elements such as rap, the new one has nothing to complain about. corey's vox are far above par, joey's drumming is super, mick is a damn good guitarist, realize it or not.

So their drummer is better than other nu-metallers. That doesn't mean I haven't heard about 200 better drummers. ANd the guitarwork is moronic. You can say he PLAYED well in the past, but thats THE PAST. The guy can't sing, he whines like every other teen angst drama queen.

I don't think Nu-Metal has an actual definition to the genre; I mean, a lot of different bands are labelled "nu-metal" (Self-proclaimed and third-party) and it does give off a lot of misunderstandings.

Just because a band has one quality similar to band B, does not warrant the pairing in "nu-metal".

there's always some 200 better musicians. No metal drummer would actually reach the top 50 of the best of the fastest drummers in the world... I think it's pathetic to use lack of complexity as an excuse to mock (or in your case to hate) a band. If you just don't like the band or the music, quit whining about it. Who are you really to tell other people what they should listen and what not? The scene-police?

I never said anything about complexity. I happen to be a fan of very simplistic BM. It's just that I was stating my reasons for not getting "the hype" on this band.

Sorry. My bad then. I'm just not a big fan of hating bands. The last part of my message was more for Clayman and Pieguy.
