Slipknot

But what is Iowa like compared to Slipknot.

Is it better, or worse? More comples, evolved? Or more conformed and pop oriented.

I'm curious, I had the Slipknot album once, and enjoyed it for a while, and then sold it.

I can never get an answer on what the new album is like, and I would never dare buy it.

Slipknot and Iowa are really poor albums trying to be metal but fail miserably. Haven't heard MFKR.

I like them a lot, but I don't think many of you will. I will see them live in 12 days for the second time. Back when I discovered them, they were the heaviest stuff I ever heard, but nowadays it doesn't sound this extreme at all, comparing to stuff like Antaeus or Darkthrone, and you realize that technically and lyrically they can't compete with killer black metal bands, still I love them, they have catchy melodies, some heavy part, and the music is excellent for moshing.
Oh well, I guess you have to be openminded to like them. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not very openminded so why do I actually like them? Mhh, I don't know, just give them a try and see if you like 'em

Oh come on.... Not this again. They suck. Listen to some real bands, not some comercialized crap. Buy Opeth, Dark Tranquility, Death, Nile, Emperor, Symphony X, etc... There are so many good metal bands today, that there is really no reason why you should resort to slipknot.

The only time I ever listened to Slipknot was going to the System Of A Down/Slipknot show I won tickets to.

All I can say is that from a circus standpoint, their show was interesting to watch. To me, no different than going to see Blue Man Group. It wasn't for musical value - but more of the show as a whole - something to watch. - plus, it was free, and I generally will go to a free show.

I agree.

Live shows to me, are that - a show.

While there are some bands that you will go to listen to, there are some that are purely like a circus..

'Oh look, Slipknots in town! Let's go see 'em! It'd be so fun!'

And listening to Slipknot isn't lowering your standards, it's liking more than a few given genres.

I'm not narrow minded - I just don't like them on the CD alone - but I did enjoy the live show

Slipknot... yeah, I listen a song or two from them once in a while. Nothing special in good or bad way.
I think I can live in the same world with them. And if I really couldn't listen to them I would just ignore them.
Because after all they're just a band that is gathering pretty much attention at the moment. That flow will cease after a while no matter whether you hate them or not.

I'm not narrow minded. I just don't listen to bands that are lacking in lyricle depth, and musical complexity. If two power chords and the word 'fuck' over and over is enough to entertain you, that's great. But no, Slipknot is not heavy, or metal.
