I have become very certain within the past few days that Living to Die is the best slow song Hypocrisy has ever done. Beats Slippin´ Away, in my opinion.

And Fearless takes the hit song place right after Roswell 47, Destroyed (yes) and Eraser.

Dare to differ? :err:

IMO Slippin Away and Until the end are nevah gonna get beaten by any song, Hypocrisy or not :headbang:

Living to die and All turns black are also two awesomes songs, I couldnt say which one I prefer tho

edit : add A THOUSAND LIES to the "nevah gonna get beaten" list ;)

Ok, ok! You´re allowed to have an opinion. ;)

So what about Fearless being a hit then?

that was my instant favourite on the album, but I think I love let the knife do the talking just a little bit more. just love the lead guitar shit on there, and the vocal delivery. shits amazing

I alwayed loved request denied and until the end for best slow song. only recently heard slippin away and all turns black and love those. living to die is just perfection. hard to pick just one :p

I think "A thousand Lies" is the best song on virus. very atmospheric and i like those slow hypocrisy songs.(Compulsive Psychosis has the best Solo)

Till now, my favorite slow Hypo songs have been Apocalypse, The Arrival of the Demons (PartII), Paradox, Disconnected Magnetic Corridors and Lies.

Fearless isn't a bad song, but i think hasn't got any potential for beeing a hit like Roswell 47 or Eraser(btw i don't know why people love Eraser, Born Dead, Buried Alive is the best Song on The Arrival).
He's just too simple and Hypocrisy like.

Agree Agree Agree! It's definitely a -must-be-played-live song! If they play it on the X-Mass tour, I'll definitely need someone to pick me up when I'm passing out ! Care to me that person, lumi? ;)

Oh, and concerning that Living To Die discussion: in my opinion, nothing beats Paled Empty Sphere, but Living To Die is close and so is Slippin Away. Personally I never liked All Turns Black as much as those other slow songs, but it's definitely a good song as well.

I imagine fearless will be a hit because it has that catchy chorus and shit. people love that stuff. it was my favorite track at first too, but than let the knife do the talking soon took the facorite track award. it has everything you could want. some brutal shit, some catchy shit, crazy guitar work, a fucking 20 somewhat second chant of "Kill"... sounds like this song wants to make friends with us.

living to die is also good but i always like death row... =\

Best slow songs... Living to Die, Slippin Away, and Deathrow. Those three slow songs are fucking amazing. The first listen to all three of these songs was great.
As for Fearless... catchiest song on Virus. I listen to that song all the time as loud as I can get away with. Let the Knife do the talking is bad ass as well. I always loved the walking bassline of the 'pre-verse', the drumbeat and second guitar of the chorus, and the KILL! KILL! KILL! ...fanfuckingtastic...
As for the Arrival... going to have to bust you on the best song on the album... War Within has and always will be my favorite song on that album. The opening is great and the up beat ride of the drums is a nice touch. The vocal piece in the bridge/interlude part is one of a kind as he growls and almost answers with screams, I always thought that song was the song that pulled the harder style back into the album that everyone wanted more of... I think the Arrival gets overlooked by a lot of people.

I thought you just might agree with me ;)
As for the me-picking-you-up-thingy... I´m working on that!
(you sending me some money would help :heh: )

I have always thought that some of the soloes by Hypocrisy starts out fantastic and then, when you would just want a little more, the solo is over.
I think Compulsive Pshychosis did a great job of starting out with a great solo, and then continued for a long time.

That solo I just love and it`s the best on the entire album, but there are other who are pretty close to it.

(This will be a bit off-track,but I`ll get to the point later on.)

My problem with bands such as Metallica is that they have too many soloes that perhaps starts out not too bad,but is ruined by too much other ugly guitar play.

A term much used by my friends is a "Jalla-solo",where the more unmelodic solo is the better, with a lot of screaming guitars and stuff is crammed in just for the fun of it,ruining the solo.
That`s at the least what Metallica seem to think, but people love them for their long solos.

I believe that Hypocrisy may have a lot of short soloes, but they are a thousand times better than those of Metallica.

Now,I love all of the solos made by Hypocrisy, from "To escape is to die" to "Slippin` away" and "Fractured Millenuim" to name a few.

I have been accused of being too biased when it comes to Hypocrisy, and this is perhaps why I prefer a crap Hypocrisy solo over a crap solo from an other band.

My friends think that the solo on "Osculum Obscenum" is one of the worst soloes by Hypocrisy and I think it is good actually, in it`s own.

Anyway,Hypocrisy have done a great job with their soloes on "Virus","Incised before I ceased" also springs to mind, but I just hope it won`t be like with so many other bands, that they must have a guitar solo just to have one and not do a outstanding one in the purpose of doing a great one.

I think I perhaps slipped a bit off-track here, but it`s better than making a whole new thread about it.

Oh,and no slow song can beat "Slippin` away" perhaps be almost equally as good, but not beat it.Deathrow,Untill the end and some others are damn close though.
But in a sense,I feel Untill the end is a more melodic song than Slippin` away,so sometimes I favour "Untill".
It`s all about the mood you`re in.

This is Peter Tägtgren we`re talking about.

One day he will have his 100% album and that will be a true blessing from the Dark Lord of Sweden, with a great killer song,a killer solo and a killer slow goodie.

I can`t wait!

Oh don´t say that!
The 98% succeed is the thing that makes him keep on going! If he one day makes the perfect album, why continue?

..at least he said something like this in a interview I read two days ago.

My favorite slow song by Hypocrisy would definitely be "The Arrival of the Demons (Part II)." Such an awesome riff. If you'd consider "The Abyss" a slow song, which I would, then that one's right up there too. Other ones I love:
"Slippin' Away"
"Apocalypse"
"The Fourth Dimension"
"A Coming Race"
"Request Denied"

You`re right.

Right, say he finishes his 100% album on his deathbed?

Damn, that`s right,he is a god so he cannot die and if he did it would mean that we couldn`t hear Hypocrisy play live in this life.

Oh well,I`m hoping for a great concert when I get to hell.

I just hope I don`t miss anything from Virus.

Kidding, now,I don`t believe (or rather hope) that Peter will make such an album just yet.

He`ll continue as long as it`s fun,and Peter is made for music,so he`s going to continue churning out great Hypocrisy/Pain albums for a very long time.
Eventually he`ll cook up that 100% recipe, but I guess he`ll save it for one hell of a finale,or unleash hell and make another 105% album.

Back to the topic.

I think all of the songs mentioned `till now is great songs, you have all mentioned the songs I thought about mentioning.

But what about Elastic Inverted Visions"?
I think it`s slow enough to make it into the list.
Since "A Coming Race" did,I mean.

I also feel that "Fractured Millenium" is pretty slow, and I almost forgot about "Shamateur",which is a slow bonecrusher of a song.
Damn, this bands has many slow songs!

From Penetralia`s songs to what we`ve mentioned in this thread.

Peter is one smart devil.

Also, what about Disconnected Magnetic Corridors, Paled Empty Spheres, Lies & The Departure!:D

Guess you didnt read my second post in this thread.
Contains half the songs you mentioned right here.

There will never be a more atmospheric or better slow song than apocalypse on this earth
NEVER

Oh, yes...Disconnected magnetic corridors...What a great song...Everytime I hear: 'Breaking up the silence in the night, it's like running around erasing ground, it can't be done...' I get shudder....Awesome..one of the most depresive songs...
