Let's be real, if they were men, would this post even be here? Probably not. If they did not dress like trash, would we even care? Probably not. What does irk me is that these people get attention while the Femme-metal landscape is littered with people of far better talent. Why are we paying attention to these fame whores while Kim Goss, Melissa Ferlaak and Abby Clutario are teaching, Quinn Weng is developing software, and Sabrina Valentine is at Big Box Mart cleaning up in aisle number 9*? Even add the Original poster to this thread in this mix who should be getting more exposure. It is just sad.

Bring Me The Horizon is as generic as they come - there are hundreds of bands that literally sound exactly like that, but because girls want to bang them, they're one of the biggest bands in the whole of metal and people eat that shit up. They're "rockstars." You can talk about the music all you want but at the end of the day, nobody complains when they see some shirtless Swedish dude in leather pants, but when girls do the same thing it's slutty and a cashgrab. I'm no femanazi, in fact, I agree with that position as well, but I do call it as I see it.

Actually, I do. I'm not a big fan of dudes taking off their shirt on stage if their music is bad. To me that's just trying to sell yourself off of your looks while not having the skills to back it up and I -HATE- that. To be perfectly honest, my favorite "stars" in the metal world aren't all that good looking. (Forgive me, Dio. You were beautiful in spirit.)

I'll give you another example. The lead guitarist in my old band used to do that. He'd go on stage in leather pants and take off his shirt. I used to think it was weird and silly. I still do.

i don't want to get too far into my personal life, but i spend alot of time interacting with people that are 100% completely totallly blind and also alot of time with people that are 100% deaf

the blind people spend all day listening to Christina Agulera, telling me her voice is awesome and asking me how the hell Britney spears makes money when she's got such a crappy singing voice

but the deaf people spend all day watching the visuals in music videos, epsecially Brittney's videos

the blind people also like other artists and the deaf people also love lady gaga's videos and the video for Katy Perry's firework and E T , but i mention specifically Britney and Cristina because i'm constantly hearing Britney and Christina being mentioned in the same breath, mostly people bitching about how Christina's got the better singing voice but Brittney's got more money

if britney had her vocal chords removed today, and they both lived another 10 years, and if christina made another 5 albulms, and if britney and cristina then both died the same day, there'd still be a chance of britney dying with more money in the bank, it's not fair to christina, but britney's got the visual thing going on, and at the end of the day, brittney having her vocal chords removed would somehow result in her getting a huge payday immediately after the surgery being broadcasted on live tv

I really hate it that narrowminded people use money and sales as an excuse to say that certain women in the music scene must be talentless because they dress provocatively. Obviously if a women dresses sexy, she could only be doing it for the money ... or because she wants to be raped, right? I feel it's the same type of narrowmindedness that insinuates both of these ideas.

If women in metal choose to dress in a sexy way, it's because that's what they want to do. No one is forcing these women to wear what they wear (or don't wear). As it's already been stated here, men wear all kinds varieties of stage clothes and metalheads don't sit around questioning their motives. It's only when a women decides to show some skin, or wear a corset, or wear jeans and a t-shirt, that the metal community feels the need to sit around and start questioning the motives of someone's clothing. It's stupid.

lady gaga has a hell of a lot more money than anyone makes just from playboy paying them, video porn pays a hell of alot more than magazine porn, and some of the video pornstars don't even ever do magazine porn cuz magazine porn doesn't pay enough to live in mansions with lake-sized-swimming pools, and lady gaga makes even more money than the richest of the video porn girls, and you can't even tell me Ke's broke with a straight face, sex sells, and at the end of the day, a random person with a vagina can get fake hair color, a push up bra, stomach-squeezing-shapewear, a micro-mini-skirt and make more money in the "entertainment industry" that she can in "the corporate world", there are lots and lots and lots of people whose sole source of income is making music, and 98% of them barely pay their bills, but don't don't sit there and tell me that Lady Gaga isn't wearing the crazy costumes for the money, if Lady Gaga didn't wear those crazy ass costumes, she'd be just as broke as 98% of the people whose sole source of income is their music

I love Asking Alexandria for example, but I also know that the reason why they play sheds opening for Slipknot or Avenged Sevenfold is because girls want to bang Danny or Ben. If you're in a "pro" band, you're kidding yourself if you don't think looks matter. Even in metal. A bunch of fat dudes/ladies with baggy jeans and oversized band t shirts will probably get less attention than dudes/ladies who are fashionable and in shape. It's not called a "show" for nothing after all.

You really think a girl who stands around smiling and pretending to like vidya gaems in booty shorts for 8 hours a day for 3 days would do that if it wasn't for that measly amount of money? You act like getting a job at Playboy is easy, like those people who say "if I wanted to make money in music, I'd write pop songs," like just anyone could turn a platinum single around at any time.
