Just was testing to see if I could do some more Dimmu kind of stuff mixwise.

this one is done with a fireball 100 + framus cab (v30):

this one as well, but with a g12h speaker:

both miced with SM57.
the melody delayed lead guitars are g12h on all clips.

drums are metal foundry.
brass section (and some strings) are all ewql symphonic orchestra platinum.

I have no idea how this sounds, I heard it too much :D so I hope it is any good.

Thanks.
I was surprised that the g12h could stand quite well against the V30.
Still this mix sounds kind of too dark, I want it more bright and that's the problem I have most of the time. Any advice? What do you think is wrong with it atm?

I'd say if i understand you correctly that the guitar tone is "too dark"? Either mic the amp differently so it's brighter, but that's a "be careful" thing to do, cause if it's too bright the tone will sound "amateurish", and if it's too dark, i guess it will sound similar to the stuff that you do atm!
However if it's not a micing issue, then change your settings on the amp.

I think the problem comes mainly from the drums.
I'm A/Bing with Dimmu's last album and those drums sound so much brighter, I try alot of stuff, but I really don't have a clue how to get there. I've been struggling for YEARS with this shit, day after day, lol. I still enjoy doing it but I'm at a point where I just don't get anything. I don't even know when I'm doing my stuff what is good and isn't. I sometimes don't know if I have to bring up frequencies on eq or bring them down, totally clueless these days :tickled:

the cabinet is miced almost in the center so I don't think it's a guitar problem.
