sneap forum chat - an idea to being us all closer and gayer! lol

the page may seem a little lame and gay at the moment but the only way its gona start rolling is if it gets stickied and people use the page. people make chatroom work, so we need people - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMEONE STICKY THIS PAGE!

I'm in, but it's too quiet.

Guys, there are IRC client plugins for good browsers already, and the IRC room - which doesn't require that godawful Flash cuntstuffery - is already there for use. I'm going to try using both, but since IRC doesn't require Flash I'll be able to access IRC more often... for what that's worth.

hey whats wrong with flash? its running perfect for me, and its nice & simple with a clean interface - IRC is old and dying out, Today's tech is gearing more & more towards flash because you can make rich graphic looking applications without having to have a monster of a GPU or CPU. you see it in every website today, if you look at the likes of myspace 2.0, bebo, or the fact that there are millions of flash videos out there (especially porn sites which are harnessing flash) etc because it is so versatile and looks great and very simple to implement into existing websites

there was all ready a sneap irc and i've heard from others it didn't work out at all.

seems like most of us can paste links in there just fine
but they arent clickable
you have to highlight, copy and paste into a new tab or w/e

My bad, I tried with shift+ins and it didn't work. It's working with ctr+v and with right click + paste

(1) IRC is 'dying out'... bullshit. It's still very popular in a lot of technical circles, and you can have a clean interface because you control the interface in your end. Flash is proprietary, unstable, overused garbage, and looking at porn sites and Myspace for what *good* design should be is utter cock. Hell, marquee tags used to be everywhere, but that doesn't mean they were a good idea. With IRC you can access the room through the browser *or* through a dedicated client, provide name registration to prevent impersonation, log everything *very* easily... with Flash (which still isn't available for several platforms or many architectures apart from x86) you get precisely dick. Flash was never that fucking great, and it needs to die - and as for 'versatility', the fact that it can do a lot of things doesn't mean that it does them well.

(2) There still *is* a Sneap IRC, and if we're going to put work into having a Sneap chatroom we might as well use free things that are accessible to everyone, more powerful, less restrictive to users, and already there.
