According to the copyright it was a 97 album. Murphy left in 96? They released Demonic in 97. I guess if the song was recorded specifically for the album and not laying around for ages you'd have to suggest it was Eric. But I'd reckon if it was released in 97 it was probably sorted and organised in 96 therefore it would be Murphy.

I was going to use all those words in the title of the next song I wrote!

Time wise I think it's gotta be Murphy, those compilations/tributes usually take quite a while to organise because of the number of labels and bands involved and the legal horseshit that goes with it all.

I remember reading something years ago and I can't remember which album it was for but they claimed getting one artist, it might have been Vai, to be able to record on the label took over 6 months of negotiations. Obviously they wouldn't all be like that but it would only take one label being a bitch to fuck things up.
