so i got about £400

Get the 002 and then the cheap Behringer ad800...at least it will give you enough inputs. Then after one piddly little paying project, you could easily have enough to then upgrade to a Presonus Digimax and then sell the Behringer.

yer as you were saying if you want to go pro tools, do it before you commit to other gear, id deffo do summat like aaron says, im gnna do the same, but im already gnna have the motu 8 pre for the adat inputs into the digi.

Have you not thought about finance, i know soundcontrol, or one up here, soundslive.co.uk will do a 6 month finance, where you dont pay interest. which is what im gnna do next month!!

:S the digi002 only has 4 pre-amped inputs. to record a kit i'm going to want 8, and cant afford to spend out on more mic pre's ??

there's always the presonus firepod, with 8 pre'amps and a digital (so possibly 9 channels) midi in, midi out, 287 pounds; you can almost buy 2 and link them to do 16 channels of drums! I have no complains on the pre-amps, they sound good! very easy to use interface

sure dude, whatever you want; but the firepod aint for kids, the difference in pre's is not the biggest difference in the world opposed to mic placement, guitars, amp's and settings or drums; I've heard insane results coming from firepod's; and it's not too expansive so you can almost buy 2 and get 16 channels; which will most likely make your drumkit sound a whole lot better but as I said, whatever you want.

Get the 002 like Aaron says. The Saffire Pro does have pads, -10db within the sofware mixer. Like he said wasnt that the whole point of the thread before? hahahah

Yep, sorry you are right Forbidden, i was thinking of pads on the the m-powered 1010 software mixer it was going through. Thats the internet for you, dont beleive everything you read!!! hahahah

This is my plan but im still stuck with the behringer ada8000 cause im saving my money for some new monitors first. But yea the 002 and the ada8000 has been more than enough preamps for me so far.

The Firepod has very limited expandability though, if I was buying a Presonus interface the only one I would consider would be the Firestudio... I'm still very curious to hear some reviews about the new M-Audio Profire 2626 once it's released, I think that would be my first choice on paper...

keep in mind that if your using light editions of pt your track count is limited so if your dedicating that many tracks to drums, and planning on quad tracking guitars ect. you may run in to complications unless you sub group tracks which is a nuisance
