Because even though I've become a Sunn O))) fanboy, the first song I heard was My Wall and it is still by far my favorite "song" in no small part due to Julian Cope's lyrics and vocals therein.

So what's the deal? Any essential albums?

HAVE AT YOU!

not that familiar with his music except 'world shut your mouth' or whatever it was called, teardrop explodes and all that

martin walkyier is quite friendly with him i think
with all the pagan/heathen history stuff

cope is quite a antiquarian too
he gives lectures at universities on his history books http://www.themegalithiceuropean.com/

check out his head heritage record label site
I think you can find out quite a bit there

I read an interview in some shit magazine I wouldn't normally bother with (I was in a waiting room)
very interesting character

Peggy Suicide = essential cope album.

His latest albums aren't too bad either (Citizen Cain'd and Dark Orgasm), but not up to the quality of Peggy Suicide, or the one after it (I forget the name right now hmmm) and in between there there's more hit or miss.

he's done way too much acid so he has an era of kinda bad albums, though.

edit: Jehovahkill is the name of the one i was trying to think of there.

this pic may sum him up in one image:
