solo recording

Hey everybody. i`m new to the forum and to recording in general. i got a firepod in the spring and started messing around recording some songs i had written. having trouble with the mastering stage, particularily the upper mids and highs which sound kinda congested any pointers???

dude, if your mix sounds congested your problem probably isnt in the "mastering" stage your doing. maybe waves L3 multiband compressor on your master bus might allow you to bring out or cut some frequencies that your having problems with.
