Some death metal with some groove to it (hopefully)

Hey guys...happy Australia day!

Anyway, I wrote this song yesterday and thought I'd post it. I was going after a sound with some cool death metal riffs, but mostly something that'd make you want to bang your head too.

This is the first mix I've done with The Metal Foundry since I bought it and got it working, although I basically selected one of the presets and then tweaked it some more in Cubase, so I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it.

As with most of the stuff I post, I am more concerned about what you think of the song, but I'm after any feedback at all you can give me. The playing isn't as tight as it can be because I recorded at the same time as writing it, and the solos were just hack jobs put there to show a solo is supposed to be there.

Anyway, here it is guys. :)

No listens yet! How am I supposed to improve anything?

Here is an update anyway.

I added more treble to the overall mix and got the drums sounding better (I think/hope). It might lack a bit of bass now though.

Second update.

Your drums are in mono.
Not digging the guitars, they're very scratchy. Bass is very undefined. MF sounds like MF.. bad :/

Sorry. Try replacing the drums with some samples. And maybe use new strings on your bass, or something because its REALLY undefined atm, just a blur. Guitars could use some more mids, but I've heard better tones from you.

I am not sure why but the panners in s2.0 aren't working for me! I move the panners around and I get no change at all...maybe I can just change all the outs and pan then in Cubase instead.

The drums need alot of work, are you multichanneling s2.0? guitars a sort of scratchyness in both mixes, and as someone said before, could do with a bigger body. Bass is hard to make out in the mix what's going on with it, sounds uncontrolled

I'm really not sure why my drums aren't panning. It is something to do with Superior Drummer...

I go into the mixer and move the panners and I get SLIGHT changes in sound, but I don't get a change in where the drums are placed in the stereo field at all. This happens on presets I load from the metal foundry itself, as well as on other presets I've used before I had the metal foundry that didn't have that problem, and even on drums I load from scratch. I always click 'multichannel' or 'stereo' on the mixer for the drums and I get the same problem.

Anyway, while I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with s2.0 I panned the drums in my DAW and did some different things with EQ and compression. I also took some of the lows out of the bass and added more treble to hopefully make it a little more distinguished and cut through better. I went and changed the impulses I was using with the guitars to hopefully make them have a bit more body and meat to them as well.

How does it sound now? Also, how do you like it as a composition?

What a great energy this song has, pure raw power! This is something I'd enjoy very much listening live while getting wasted :kickass:

Not sure whether a cleaner mix would make this alot better, I like this mean and dirty!
