VVVVV PLEASEEEE don't close this.

I know about the self promotion forum but that place is dead and frankly I want to get opinions from people who I know *something* about (that is people who's musical tastes I'm familiar with, GMD people :D)

Plus it's not self promotion because you don't even know the band's name! AHA!

Anyways...

My bandmates were able to record this before they graduated from high school on someone's computer (I'm a year ahead so I've been at uni for a while now). Yes the recording is crappy. No we have not added bass or drumming yet (or vocals, which we're still not quite sure about yet, one of my bandmates has written some vocal lines but we're not sure where we want to go with that yet).

Anyways, a lot of this is not pure metal, I guess you could call it "prog-metal". Our influences are predominantly Isis, Opeth, , various post-rock bands, and celtic folk... though we don't sound much like any of those.

Several of the songs are pure acoustic and though we intend to record them on a classical guitar (and trust me, it sounds infinitely better on a classical), we were forced for various reasons to go with clean electric for this.

Anyways, I can promise you that this is NOT your run-of-the-mill high school metulz band. I can't take any of the song writing credit because I had tendonitis and was unable to play for the duration (the other guitarist and drummer, who also plays guitar to a certain extent, did all the writing)

The guitarist had only been playing guitar seriously for about 2 years at the time of this recording (he'd fooled around on acoustic for a year before that), and personally I have huge hopes for this "project". To me at least (yeah obviously I'm pretty biased), this sounds very, very good for such an early effort, especially since it was all written in the space of one year and we had very little to work with (we were in North Africa). So that's why the playing is not "perfect" ;).

Anyways, I'd really appreciate some feedback (all songs are in m4a format - you should be able to get a codec for real player somewhere). I don't honestly know when we'll be able to get back together to continue writing and actually give this a real production/recording job (and add the bass and drumming, which of course are VITAL, especially with our style). Some of the songs might be completely reworked, I don't know.

The first song is a sort of intro thing and the last is a piano piece (written by the drummer, who's never played piano in his life ;)). The second song is not completed yet (only a 2 min snippet was recorded). The songs are also all quite different, so don't assume because you don't like one, you won't like all:

EDIT: OK, it appears QUICKTIME and winamp are capable of playing m4a files.

:kickass: For all those who listen and comment!

I listened to your first 2 songs and honestly the first one was just ominous noise (to my ears anyway) and the second track kinda had a burzumish feel to it, but it didn't go anywhere and the distortion on the guitar was to "fuzzy" sounding for my tastes. But I have to admit, I think if you clean everything up, and get some drums, vocals, and direction, maybe you might be an ok band? Anyways, don't take my review to seriously I did only listen to the first 2 songs.
